Japan dethrones Thailand as top tourist spot
Ok maybe for people who like cities and have no social skills or are highly introverted, an East Asian city could be the preferred place. I prefer to be around actual humans somewhere that's by the coast in the tropics or up in the mountains. Moving from Europe to sit in a Japanese city, that is a rip off of Western European cities (like pretty much all major cities now) just doesn't do it for me, but hey everyone has their own preferences I suppose. -

Is It Better to Date a “6” Than a “10” in Thailand?
It's well known that 10s are an entitled nightmare to date. Inside and outside of Thailand. But would you date an ugly lwoman just so that you don't have to deal with other guys hitting on her? Probably not. So why date a 6 for LTR? I just can't do it. I can't live with myself if I see her and just feel disappointed due to her looks. Yes, integrity is a massive problem with 10s, yes, bedroom performance too, yes, everything in the OP post is true. But I still would prefer a 10 over a 6 for LTR. -

Britain’s Sharia Courts and the Challenge of Religious Freedom
They just tell the US war machine where to go while killing reporters and sending Wahabbist Imams around the world spreading hate and oppression. See Malaysia and Indonesia. -

Saudia Airlines - Choose Carefully
Mods, feel free to move this if its in the wrong place. Flights being expensive I booked a split flight for my forthcoming visit - thinking I was saving a substantial amount. The split was using Saudia Airlines outbound from the UK and Qatar on the way back. Not using Qatar both ways means foregoing my usual gold card entitlements on the outbound. I'm not being snobby - when you've had those entitlements for many years, having lounge access and not having to queue with 300 other people at check in really makes a difference but OK, I'll live with that this one time. The stopover in Riyadh is quite a long one and a quick check revealed that I could get 3 hours of lounge access for £27 through Expedia - not too bad, or so I thought (its now gone up to £35). My Saudia flight arrives at terminal 4 in Riyadh and departs from the same terminal. The only lounge in that terminal is the Alfursan lounge which is for Saudia's first, business and gold members only. When attempting to book the lounge access with Expedia, I noticed the Plaza Premium Lounge they are selling access to is located at terminal 2. So before booking I checked with the airline as to whether I could travel between terminal 4 and 2. Not without a visa or an electronic visa waiver I can't and the cost of that is £45. Before calling the airline I searched for an answer online but only came up with a lot of discusssion from people who had been told they could not go between the terminals without a visa and others who claimed they had done just that. However, as a result of that search I came across some Trustpilot reviews on the airline itself - they did not make good reading. To add to that there is no alcohol allowed on the flight and none in the lounges if I was prepared to fork out for one or could even use one. So Saudia land you at a terminal where you cannot gain access to a lounge. You can't even use a paid lounge unless you are also prepared to pay for the visa waiver - seems very wrong to me. That's my experience pre-flight, I'm hoping is doesn't go downhill from here - I'll just have to suck it up this time. The imposing of Islamic laws on international travellers had already made my mind up that this would be my first and last flight with Saudia but this latest thing over lounge access has sealed that decision. There will no doubt be those amongst you who may have had a pleasant experience with this airline but I'm not expecting good things. I've only travelled with either Etihad or Qatar for many years and this has confirmed why. It just goes to show, check out an airline before you travel - 12 - 14 hours + stopovers is a long time, just be sure you are aware of any pitfalls before you choose an airline you're not familiar with. I normally review check any large purchase I make, god knows why I didn't on this occasion. -

Is It Better to Date a “6” Than a “10” in Thailand?
Thailand sometimes feels like it is full of possibilities when it comes to women. Whether one is looking for a Thai woman or other foreign women who are also living here, it seems there are lots of options. But it also raises the question: is it better to aim for a “10,” one of seemingly physical perfection, or focus on around a “6,” being someone who is less stunning but perhaps offers more in terms of character, integrity, and real companionship? The reality is that a “10” often comes with lots of challenges. Women who are far above average looking, whether Thai or expat, tend to receive a lot of attention in my experience, both online and in person. In places like Bangkok or Pattaya, you might find many attractive women who are often catching the eye of very many men. This constant attention can make them used to being the more cherished one in a relationship. That dynamic involves a sense of entitlement, higher expectations, or maybe even a lack of loyalty as they may always be looking for the bigger and better deal. On the other hand, women who are more in the “6” range, still attractive but not idolized, often seem more grounded. Because they might not be chasing Instagram likes or have men fawning over them 24/7, they seem more likely to appreciate a man who treats them well. In Thailand, finding someone who values a genuine connection can actually be more of a challenge, but also a breath of fresh air. Sexual compatibility is another important factor to consider. While a “10” might light up the room with her figure, that doesn’t always translate to the bedroom. I find that women who are used to being admired for their looks don’t always feel the need to put in the effort to satisfy sexually. They often assume their physical appeal is enough and they might be more of a starfish. Meanwhile, a “6” who feels lucky to have a caring and committed partner might go the extra mile to make sure you’re totally happy in the relationship, including in the bedroom. This result can be a much more fulfilling and mutually satisfying sex life IMHO. When it comes to dating a “10,” the challenges can even go beyond just the attention she gets. High-maintenance expectations also come into play. A woman who’s used to admiration may expect you to fund a certain lifestyle, whether it’s frequent trips, expensive gifts, or dining at high-end restaurants. In Thailand, this could mean constant weekends off to Phuket, nights out at rooftop bars, or shopping sprees at luxury malls like Icon. Then there’s a possible issue of emotional compatibility. Women who are less obsessed with their own beauty are often more down-to-earth, loyal, and attentive. They’re also not constantly looking over their shoulder for the next admirer or chasing the unattainable ideal of perfection, which can make them much easier to connect with. This isn’t to say that every 10 is high-maintenance or that every 6 is an angel. Thailand, like anywhere else, seemingly has women across the spectrum. However, in a country where superficial beauty can often opens doors for them, it’s worth considering how much weight you want to put on appearance versus long-term compatibility. So, in Thailand, what should you aim for? Is it better to focus on a 6 (or lower) who brings stability and appreciation, or gamble on striving for a 10 and hope she’s the rare one who’s beautiful both inside and out? -

Poster of the Year 2024
He's around, under a different name. Perhaps people are posting less due to realising that there's a lot of fakery and a fair amount of social misfits lurking. It boggles the mind that there are people here actually attacking 'fictional' characters on the Internet. Social misanthropes indeed.
