I was running Google Earth successfully for several weeks until last night. Then all of the sudden I get a message on open saying that the server cannot be detected. When I click the troubleshoot button all I get is a list of files in a new browser windows that appears to be no hope. I removed and reinstalled the program several times, same result each time. I am running XP on a new computer with plenty of space. Any suggestions on how to tackle this much appreciated!

OK, this has something to do with Freegate, a program I downloaded and installed so I can view videos from you know what site. I now find that if that program isn't running I cannot run IE or GE. I usually run Firefox so that hasn't been an issue. I guess I will have to uninstall it, but I wish I didn't. Does anybody know what I can do to keep it and keep IE and GE working? I think it must have something to do with proxy settings...
