Japan Airlines (JAL) took part in Thailand's inaugural Love Pride Parade 2024, displaying its strong support for gender equality. The airline participated in the event with a vibrant float called "Color Your Skies", featuring actor Luke Ishikawa. This engagement highlighted JAL’s dedication to diversity and inclusion.

This marked a noteworthy moment for JAL as it displayed its ethos of fairness and non-discrimination on a global stage. The airline's float, complete with bright colors and intricate detailing, added to the lively atmosphere of the occasion.

Takafumi Sawada, JAL’s Vice President and General Manager for Thailand, led the float. The JAL LGBTQ Ally symbol, prominently shown on the float, emphasized the airline's efforts to promote inclusivity in and beyond the company. Sawada voiced his support for the pride parade, stating that JAL is proud to stand with the people of Thailand in celebrating diversity and equality.

JAL has consistently championed LGBTQ+ rights, participating in numerous Pride Parades in Japan and securing the top accolade at The Pride Index Awards eight years in a row since 2016. The company integrates human rights into its workflows, offering equal opportunities to all its employees.

In keeping with recent progress in Thailand's same-sex marriage laws, JAL is amending its employee benefits to match these changes. Updates include improved holiday rights, healthcare benefits, flight perks, and other related provisions. The firm's goal is to cultivate a welcoming work environment for all staff, regardless of sexual orientation or marital status.

Sawada views JAL’s participation in the parade as an important way to give back to the community. He stated that JAL is committed to supporting local initiatives and fostering diversity in its operations. Apart from participation in community events, the airline has supported local businesses by sourcing products such as coffee and chocolate from different parts of Thailand for their in-flight service. JAL currently has 450 Thai nationals working as cabin crew members in Bangkok.

JAL currently runs four daily flights from Bangkok to Japan, including two flights to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, one to Tokyo’s Narita Airport, and one to Osaka.
