Best cheap purchase you have made

I bought a rowing machine on Lazada for 13k, that looks and works almost the same as a concept 2 rower cost 65k. I do have concept 2 in my origin country so I know the original well. It is not the same finish and quality,  but do the same job.

Foreigners working in Thailand and paying into the Social Security system are indeed eligible for healthcare coverage under the Social Security system. The contribution rate for Social Security is a percentage of the employee’s salary, and the cost can be around 750 baht per month, but this varies based on income and current contribution rates set by the Thai government. For those not employed and contributing to the Social Security system, they wouldn’t typically be eligible for this coverage.

I seem to remember getting some kind of an insurance card that said how much I was entitled to per day. 

 

It wasn’t a lot and my BUPA coverage was about 1000x more than what that card gave me.

Obviously there's additional running expenses but that's the same with anything that floats or flies!

Yeah as I said, not sure of the limits.. no mention on the card.

 

Covers my 6 weekly visits which are Bt.5000 a visit.

Last year covered me for numerous months in hospital and 3 surgeries.

I had to pay the cost of private room once released from ICU.

Room was 7k a day... minus the 750 a day rate for  common ward, minus food, minus the 5k a day my private insurance paid and I was out of pocket 300b per day.

Bear in mind that the healthcare coverage provided through the Thai Social Security system is generally for services at Thai government hospitals. When a foreigner (or Thai national) pays into the Social Security system, they are typically assigned to a specific government hospital where they can receive medical care. Personally I don't have great confidence in many of the government hospitals I've seen. 

However, in some cases, if the assigned government hospital cannot provide the required treatment, patients might be referred to other government or even private hospitals, but this is subject to approval and specific conditions set by the Social Security Office. Direct access to private hospitals under the Social Security scheme is not standard practice and typically requires additional private health insurance.

I pay for my son’s Muay Thai lessons. He s been going for a few years and is familiar with everyone at the gym so get s to work out longer and even helps out a bit with cleaning etc. During his last school break, he had 2 months off school so, I arranged daily workouts, sparing etc for 3000 bt each month. He could go everyday at arranged times which he took good advantage off. That’s 100 bt a day for 1 ½ hour tuition and work outs.

Bending the topic a little, overall, boxing lessons for the boy has been the best money I ve ever spent. He s fit, strong, healthy and it s been great for his self-confidence. It s also instilled good healthy behaviour. Good diet, good sleep / rest etc which he adheres to.

Some private hospitals take on Social Security covered people.

Mine accepts 100 per year.

These spots are snapped up real damn quick, I was lucky when I started work one of the HR ladies was good friends with who ever at the hospital and I got in.

i take apart every few months and put the spray part in Vixol Oxy, gets rid of timescale
