webfact Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 In a recent unsettling event, a Thai man was apprehended on accusations of raping a Ukrainian tourist on the picturesque island of Koh Samui. The incident reportedly occurred in broad daylight on Thongson Beach, shaking the local and tourist communities alike. The complaint stemmed from the 32-year-old victim, who courageously reported the alleged attack at the local Bor Phud Police Station shortly after the incident on July 8. In her report, she described a harrowing encounter with the accused, which led the authorities to take swift action in response to her grievances. Leveraging CCTV footage and eye-witness accounts, law enforcement officers were successful in identifying the suspect as Nattaphong, a 27-year-old man originally from Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Their investigations culminated in his apprehension outside a convenience store in Koh Samui, and the very motorcycle used during the alleged crime sequence was also seized. Upon arrest, Nattaphong's version of the story sharply contradicted the claim held against him; he acknowledged the sexual encounter but insisted it was consensual. Despite his protests, the gravity of the accusations led to his immediate arrest and charging under severe sexual assault statutes, reflecting the legal system's firm stance on such issues. This distressing incident not only brings to light the urgent matters of tourist safety and legal justice in Thailand but also echoes past events that have similarly shocked the community. Previous cases in Pattaya and Koh Tao have shown a troubling pattern, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and preventative measures to protect all individuals, residents and visitors alike, from such egregious violations. As this case unfolds, it will undoubtedly continue to attract scrutiny and catalyze discussions about safety protocols, the treatment of tourists, and the efficacy of the local law enforcement in protecting the most vulnerable. Popular Post spidermike007 Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 There are certain crimes that once committed, in my opinion are a self-revocation of the right to consume oxygen. Rape is one of them, it is such a heinous violation. If it is proven without a doubt that this man did really rape this woman, I have no issue at all with an immediate death sentence, and I would advocate no need for a trial, if there are credible witnesses, video, or DNA evidence. Why waste the state's money on a trial and risk him getting off? Again. 3 10 2 2 4

Thailand is no safer than any other countries, and truth is, rape and abuse is vary rarely reported to police by local women. 2 5 1 3
Popular Post NativeBob Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 why 27 yo khun Thai would fancy 32 yo farang woman while there are so many cute and sexy thai ladies? Out of curiousity? I don't think so. 1 5 6

A tiny island compared to a country or continent? How about comparing Thailand, the whole country and including it's inhabitants. It happens much more than you allude. 3 6 1 2 2

Popular Post Hummin Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 2 minutes ago, newbee2022 said: No. In UK/Wales we have 200000 sexual assaults per year, that's more than 500 a day or more than 20 per hour. Women in UK/EU are quite aware of these numbers. As far as I know the numbers in Thailand are far away from that. If you know better come with facts. The fact is thai women do not report rape, violence or abuse, and not even call the police for other crimes, because they do not trust them. You can believe what you wan to believe, but there is no official statistics because of the reasons above. So go figure 2 7 2 1

Mostly we hear about foreigners getting on locals' nerves as foreigners think they can do whatever they want... And that seems to be confirmed in the news, like the 2 Kiwis who wrestled a cop, stole his gun and set it off... and they are out of jail and back to Kiwiland after 4 months... 1 1 2

ml5739 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Just out of curiosity, does Thailand have a sexual assault nurse examiner program for rape victims or are doctors still doing the exams?Thank you for any info.
Popular Post ronster Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 Something doesn't seem right about this as it's not a secluded beach area there and there are usually people walking around most times. Have to wonder if she knew him before or did he just walk up to a random woman on the beach and tried to rape them . Plus he was arrested from eye witness accounts , so people just sat watching while it went on instead of doing something ? 2 1

Popular Post Cereal Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 The article mentions eye witness accounts. Who would stand by and witness a rape without intervening? 2 1
NemoH Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Well it is definitely rape... he already admitted to the act - sex - and now we need to prove the "without consent" part which is so clear when she reported him for rape. And there is no "interupter/disrupter" of a thing commonly known as alcohol. So all signs point to guilt.

Any man who is desperate enough and morally bankrupt enough to rape a woman, is a man that society simply does not need, and can easily live without. So I double down on the death penalty, without a trial. 1 1
