Help with flashing monitor

Featured Replies

Hi, I am running a system that has 2 monitors, both LG  . One is running good, but the other one is flasshing, as per the att picture.

Anyone seen this before If so what is the solution?

Could be a loose connector, try plugging in everything again.

Wiggle the cables near the connector and see what happens.

Disconnect the good working monitor and install the dodgy one in it's place and see if the fault follows rhe monitor.

After these tests, If the problem is in the monitor it could be difficult to find as is an intermittant fault and will need a visit to a repair shop.

Can also give it a couple of bangs with your hand to see what happens (if it brings on the fault, could indicate something loose).

I noticed a similar flashing on my monitor when Windows tells me there is an update to be installed, and I ignore that for a day or two.

Is there a connection? I don't know.

But restarting the PC and installing the updates "fixed" the problem.

For further analysis you can switch the monitor connections. Then look if the problem happens with the same monitor or with the same graphic card output.

Swap the hdmi cables between the monitors and see if the problem moves. Flaky HDMI cables cause some weird stuff.

Thanks. I tried everything you suggested but still doing it so I think I will take it and see if it can be repaired,

Will also ask what the problem is so that anyone else that has this issue will know.

If you tried above already it is likely the display inverter and usually cheaper to just buy a new one.

Could be the power supply. If an external brick, you're in luck. Switch between the monitors and check. Such power supplies are relatively cheap to replace. If internal, I suggest getting a new monitor rather than repair. I've been down that road.

I took it in and had it checked by 2 different repair shops. Both told me that the screen was shot cheaper than buying a new monitor. So bought a 24" lol
