Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
This is why I stated in this forum a few times I was told do not cancel your work permit or Visa until you have the declaration in hand and register at the District Office. They can ask for these documents at any stage in the process until the end. -

Car polishing recomendation
Modern vehicles have clearcoats of the duco. Polishing is unnecessary, and likely to do more harm than good. A good wash, after cleaning up road tar with turps, is all that's needed. Apply a wax coat if you are extra fussy. Older cars should have oxidized paint removed with cutting compound, then buffed to a shine, followed by waxing. -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
You mean, it's a surplus fund, sitting there for a contingency, that would require baht? Why not, then, keep a surplus fund in baht, that can be assessed immediately, not almost immediately. There's no interest advantage. Makes no cents, er, sense. As far as FX speculation, yeah, maybe a couple of days journey across the ocean by dollars, to catch a low point in the baht, may miss the absolute low point by a day or two. But, that couple day's journey might also realize an even lower point -- as speculation can be tricky. Anyway, as you say, to each his own. Right now, my wife is briefed on how to go online and transfer my Thai account assets to her account, when I croak. Not sure she could do that with a USD account..... (please, let's not reopen the discussion about a bird in the hand vs probate). -

Eurozone Inflation Drops to Three-Year Low
Sort of good news but household costs for utilitiy bills, food, clothing etc are still a lot higher than they were pre-Ukraine, some as high as 30%+. Peoples wages have stagnated so in fact we we are lot worse off before the war. My electric bill went from £80/month to £210/month! -

I rented a scooter for 2,000bt a month ( gas was all I paid for - maintenance & insurance included ) who would pay 10,000bt a month? Even in tourist areas, renting is not THAT expensive. -

A Visit to the Tax Office
You don't understand whatsoever, despite your renowned googling skills! You can't change UK domicile just by moving to another country for 10 years, most requests for domicile change aren't determined until after death for estate purposes. Lord Denning, Master of the Roles, famously said, "domicile is not a raincoat that you can put on and take off at will". -

Only at the cheap gyms. The one I visit in Pattaya and the one I visit in Phuket are both staffed with high quality and legal foreigner trainers. Not all foreigners in Thailand are broke and/or cheap. -

Trump's Political Strategy: Shifting Blame for Afghanistan to Harris
He could have got all the guys that helped the US out, and he could have had all the equipment that couldn't be removed destroyed. He had months to do that. Seems he didn't care much as he did sod all to change anything, except keep them there longer. -

A Visit to the Tax Office
Another one from the first page of a Google search. It uses the term "non-dom." Never heard that one before. Article dated 9th July 2024. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-32216346 "Non-dom" describes a UK resident whose permanent home - or domicile - for tax purposes is outside the UK. It refers to a person's tax status, and has nothing to do with their nationality, citizenship or resident status - although it can be affected by these factors." This next criteria would categorize a high percentage of UK expats in Thailand - "Domicile of choice - if you are over 16 and choose to leave the UK and live indefinitely in another country" -
