Popular Post webfact Posted July 24, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2024 Picture courtesy: Matichon A Chinese woman has been detained by Royal Thai Police (RTP) for her involvement in placing a controversial advertisement promoting passport services for relocating to another country in the Huai Khwang district of Bangkok. The suspect, known as Nasu, stood accused of acting as an intermediary for a Hong Kong company. The operation, spearheaded by senior RTP officials Thiti Sangsawang and Itthiphon Itthisarnronchai, sought to apprehend Nasu at her condominium. Upon her arrest, she was taken to the Investigation Division of the Immigration Bureau, where she disclosed her role. According to Nasu, she received instructions via a Chinese application and coordinated through LINE, a popular messaging app in Thailand. Nasu organized the rental and installation of the advertisement for a monthly payment of 150,000 baht for rental and 60,000 baht for creating the sign. For her efforts, she earned US$500, approximately 17,000 baht, per advertisement. Despite her central role, Nasu claimed she did not know the contractor's identity, identifying them solely through a picture on LINE. The authorities have charged Nasu with working without the necessary permits and are investigating further to identify those responsible for commissioning the advertisement. Huai Khwang District Director has clarified that the building where the controversial sign was placed lacked the proper permits. “There is no corruption among our officials,” he asserted. The Immigration Bureau added that the advertisement had no connections with obtaining Thai nationality, calling it purely another country’s government’s prerogative. The billboard, which promoted passport services in Chinese for relocating abroad, has now been removed from its spot at Huai Khwang intersection. As the investigation continues, Thai authorities are determined to uncover the masterminds behind this operation to clamp down on such illegal activities. She has broken the labour law by not having a WP. The building owner has broken the planning laws by not having a permit for the advert billboard. Popular Post Sandboxer Posted July 24, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2024 All the countries advertised have legit official programs for citizenship by investment/deposit, so IF the lady is acting as an agent for those programs then there's really nothing dodgy about it provided she has the proper work permit to conduct such promoting here. 1 2 1

Dr B Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 As pointed out by the earlier post, Vanuatu passports are available but they require an "investment" of $130,000 for an individual. That is nearly CNY 950,000, a lot more than 70,000. To my simple mind that would suggest that these are not genuine Vanuatu passports. She is seen holding two passports, and at least one of them appears to be a male. Wouldn't it be worth Immigration Department checking if they are genuine or not. If she refuses to disclose the identity of whoever asked her to place the advert, then she must take the punishment that would have been meted out to such a person, becasue she becomes solely responsible. 1
rwill Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 As others have said there are countries where you can legally buy your citizenship/passport. So there may have been nothing illegal with the sign.
IamNoone88 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 There are many jurisdictions that offer a second legal passport if you can afford it - some very much worth having, generally for tax reasons. The Chinese do seem to like them so they can claim ... well not to be Chinese. It is a convenient cover. Take for the example the nefarious activities undertaken by the "born in China" criminals in the $3 Billion money laundering scam in Singapore. Some held multiple passports including Vanuatu and St Kitts & Nevis .....
Deputy7 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 They are infiltrating the country for a takeover. Look at Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar! Wake up Thailand before your Hong Kong!
