How to answer the dreaded question ''What is British food like?''

As you know there is not a day that passes without a random little French guy or American asking you what British food is like.  It can happen multiple times in one day.

Nope, never ever happened to me....

This topic makes the usual and totally wrong assumption that all food from the UK is the same!

There are huge national variations and within the countries of the UK many regional differences. A lot depends on the resources  available locally. The west coasts of Scotland and Cornwall are particularly rich in seafood and Northern Ireland has a unique way with edible seaweeds.

Come on, then there's American food, fatty junk food with way too large portions, there's a reason so many Americans are obese+

The topic is about  British food.

Are you trying to shift

the topic?

If you answer the question, "what is British food like?" with a list of all the types of British food you can remember, you're going to look pretty silly.  Someone asking you what something is "like" is more like a description of that thing, rather than an exhaustive list of examples.
