You can hire a 17-year old, that's fine. And 300 baht is well over the minimum wage requirements in any province so you should be fine there as well.

Since I brought this up in another thread- is there any age limit to work permit issuance, for teachers or in general? There seems to be a general notion that 60 is the official upper limit for teachers, although many schools seem to work around it- but is that number coming from anything official or just customary practice?

Apparently, there is no mandatory retirement age - yet. I'm looking for government information on this, but this information from Mercer HR seems to be pretty sure.
