Thinking good advice for folk doing border bounce in future is to use "visa run" agents (minivan) . They can advise current situation. -

It's fairly obvious that if a Farang in the village is going to be required to file a Thai tax return for their worldwide income: Many won't file, due to ignorance and/or disbelief that this will be enforced. When they are called into TRD, they are going to be at the mercy of Somchai, and that will not end well. This is Thailand. -

How do I know if I'm a tax resident in Thailand? If they check me out they'll get one hell of a shock seeing how little I spend annually. I'm now 80 yo, no bar girls, I never go to bars even for a drink but I have a large fridge full of very healthy food. I'm exempt from paying any tax in Australia. Actually I'm see this as a wait and see situation because it woudn't be the first brain fart that went arse up here.- 2

Do you know (Americans SS) to change ?
I'm not talking about a Social Security deposits below but just general funds: As best as I recall, the BKK Bank New York branch CEASED accepting U.S. domestic ACH transfers for onward routing to your BKKB Thailand account several years back. Last time I checked, however, what you could still do thru BKKB NY is send them a U.S. domestic wire transfer (can often can be found for little or no cost) to their ABA routing # and your Thai BKKB account number, and then THAT they will still forward onward to your BKKB Thai account. But I've never done a SS deposit directly to BKKB New York, so I can't speak to how / whether that still works??? Or if there's been some later change on NY's policy re ACH transfers. -

Yep, I'm sure most border runs are done with 1 or 2 days remaining on entry stamp so why would you decline to stay 1 night in Laos when so close to end of stay? -
