What was your job (profession) when you moved to Thailand
I am just curios what job you had prior coming to Thailand or still have? Did you have any high school education or Bachelor or Master degree? Mine is quite simple. I grew up in a small town in Germany (hence my writing) went to public school and tech school migrated to Australia (the best place on earth) worked for a company in Sydney and moved west. Started my own company sold it after about 25 years, moved to Thailand for a number of years and moved back to OZ after losing money in LOS. I know some posters don't live in Thailand but that is not important. I just like to hear your story good or bad. Thanks for listening. -

Forgot to cancel my non-b visa extension
When you obtained your work extension, you signed a document that said you would notify immigration if your situation changed. You stopped working, and you failed to notify immigration. This can prevent you both from getting a new long-term visa or long-term extension until it is cancelled. Likely that will involve paying a fine of 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht. You will need to find out how to cancel it with the immigration office. Even going past November won't make a difference, because you still failed to meet the terms you previously agreed to. You need to find out from immigration what they want to cancel your old extension, and then try to get that. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
I don't expect brokerage statements to be of much use under global taxation. It works under current year remittance as it gives a baseline on a specific start date to accept as 'savings' disregarding the capital gains that would be intermixed. TRD trying to use account statements and buy/sell order receipts to calculate income is unfeasible. If they go this route, a (certified?) copy of the home country tax return would be filed with the Thai tax return, with all income figures taken directly from that. -

Except that TRD has no interest in flagging large remittances from abroad. At this time. Which begs the question of how or why they would notice the 50K baht that Bob in the village remits every month. I am bringing up bargirls who receive big money to illustrate the lack of enforcement by TRD. The likely outcome for 2025 is that Bob in the village who never files will be unaffected. Who will impacted by the new tax regulations? Some Swedish guy who is snagged by the police for some financial crime will be audited, and his remittances traced for examination. -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
It will be interesting to see how this progresses. They may issue a lot of these visas. Will they either a) stop issuing them b) reduce the 5-year validity to say 1 year c) make them harder to get d) make them more expensive e) have Immigration make entry difficult. I just can't see it going on for a long time. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Would that be money remitted from a BG's foreign account? Even here, there's a chance it's not income -- if not declared as such, how is TRD going to know, unless they interview everyone that receives money from abroad (which would be absurd, as not cost effective) If BG gets the money from someone else's foreign account, here it's certainly not prima facie income declarable by her -- unless it's a payment for a current service being rendered, like cutting sender's grass while sender is in the States. Anyway, the recipient of wired money from someone's foreign account, if for some reason called into TRD for a chat, could just say the money was a gift (which would put her in the 10k gift tax situation); or that she's just holding the money for the sender, until he returns to Thailand, 'cause he doesn't have a bank account; etc. Again, she's not in an income situation, unless performing current services. It's the remitter, if a tax resident of Thailand, who's on the hook for any taxes on remitted monies. But, yes -- a BG who received remittances that exceeded an amount the TRD has established as being subject to random compliance audits -- would just be another individual subject to such an audit. In which case, she could just prove she didn't send the money to herself, thus not subject to any tax (except maybe gift tax).- 1

Investment for income stream for a Thai
Here is not the West. There is a limit to the degree you can americanize a Thai. I suspect you mean the US when talking of "the West" - many people in Europe are financially illiterate and too scared to invest in anything else than government bonds. Which is probably the best for your gf, 10 years pay 3.5% Gold would be better, but no income stream. Land is best, but no automatic income stream. I once bought mutual funds for a TGF, I wouldn't do it again. Accept she doesn't want it. -

SETV & METV still around now that visa exempts are now 60 days?
You've already been vetted, submitted an application and been approved to enter Thailand when you have a visa. There's no reason to have to submit information again for an ETA. Travel authorizations across the countries that use them are for pre-authorizing and collecting information for people that are traveling without a visa. -

I went with a real nurse a few times. It was a bit inconvenient due to her weird working hours (at a Pattaya hospital). She was definitely a nurse (I used to work at a hospital myself). Very lovely lady, maybe 95% of a model. She was eventually swept up by a rich sponsor. -

2 Trips / 2 Passports - Combine Re-entry permit with Visa Exempt?
This is a very good way to get pulled into an interrogation room and questioned about what you are doing and why you are playing games with your passports. All to save 1000 baht? Doesn't seem worth the risk. Even people just normally changing passports betwen trips get questioned often enough, but you are planning on doing it 2 times in short order.
