Ceiling Panels Collapse At Chiang Mai Airport Injures Two Passengers

Recommended Posts

I feel like the "portrayal of Thailand as underdeveloped" in the recent Apple ad was quite flattering compared to the portrayal normal Thai infrastructure is giving out to the world.

Thais seemingly don’t do preventative maintenance hence the alarming levels of accidents like this.

They should call it accelerated rectification... after the fact

It was for this reason that the CAA/ICAO or its equivalent, rated airline safety quite low, because pilots were often too fatigued to fly. Perhaps the same is true of Air Marshalls, dunno.

The poor ratings for Thai aviation from ICAO and the US were based on findings that the relevant government agencies were not providing adequate oversight and regulation of the sector.

"The FAA safety rating is issued as part of the agency's International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program. This program assesses "a country's ability, not the ability of individual air carriers, to adhere to international aviation safety standards and recommended practices" established by ICAO."

The latest FAA inspections to try to confirm that Thailand can regain a category 1 safety rating, are taking place this year, I believe that there still remains 6 outstanding issues from the 26 findings in your 2019 report.

Too bad the ceiling panels didn’t land on adults instead of children because adults are taller and , you know, gravity and physics.

The injuries might have been limited to “ouch, what was that?”
