This is not for a visa run.  (I have a 'retirement' visa in Thailand).

Years ago, I used to go across from Ranong and stay in Kawthaung for a few days, teaching English as a volunteer at the local orphanage.  I wondered whether this border is currently open, in light of the current unrest in Myanmar. I used to pay 100 baht for the trip across the river mouth in a small boat 🙂

Nope! But since I've almost hit retirement age and have spare time, I may go back/forth from Ranong to teach English (and Thai) at the school in Kawthaung. This will mean that I need to get a re-entry permit each time that I leave Ranong. It seems from your linked post that I can stay in Kawthaung up to 14 days, which is fine since the Thai mobile networks have coverage in Kawthaung.

Perhaps of concern is whether the Burmese authorities will let me in! In 2022, I was barred from entering Myanmar after a weekend trip to Bangkok (I was teaching at an international school in Yangon at the time).  This was blanket ban on all British nationals (the British government froze the junta bank accounts in London..). I think the generals have calmed down by now and I should be able to enter the country again.

Doubt it.

Thinking currently it's just a border bounce option.

Others can correct me.

May I ask what the document you receive is called after you pay the $10 fee (for example: a pass, a visa, etc)?  Is it stamped directly to your passport?
