Police have launched a manhunt for a lone male suspect who robbed a gold shop in a Ratchadapisek shopping mall in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district. He took a five-baht weight (75.8g) solid gold bracelet, worth about 200,000 baht.

According to witnesses, the suspect wore a white cap, face mask, black T-shirt and black trousers. He carried a shoulder bag. He was spotted walking near the gold shop, located on the second floor of the mall, a couple of times before walking into the shop.

A shop employee claimed that the robber asked to see a gold bracelet, which he examined for a while before leaving without buying it. He returned about 10 minutes later and asked to see a bigger bracelet, claiming that he wanted to buy it for his girlfriend.

what could possibly go wrong ?

My local Big C has 3 gold shops all in close proximity, none are enclosed when open for business..

One has a guard but he is not armed in any way...

Anything.

A few years back a LPG  HGV crashed into a gold shop not that far from us. A couple of chancers outside thought it a golden opportunity, rushed into the shop and started looting. The LPG tanks on the HGV blew up killing the looters and others, with some seriously injured.

Of course gold shops outside Thailand would be immune from any such problem.
