In a macabre scene that shook a tranquil village, 68-year-old saxophonist Mr. Charoen was discovered dead at his home, with his dogs gnawing at his body. This harrowing discovery took place on the afternoon of 18 August 2024, in Village 4, Tambon Chaman, Amphoe Makham.

Officer R.T.O. Pramote Kongnanta, along with Chanthaburi rescue volunteers, arrived at the scene to find a gruesome sight. Dozens of Mr. Charoen’s dogs, which he had raised, were chewing his body, reducing his head to just a skull. The villagers had quickly moved to chase the dogs away to protect the authorities during their investigation, reported Amarin TV.

Mr. Charoen was found face up on the floor of his home, dressed in black trousers and a long-sleeved shirt. Next to his body was a lawnmower, indicating he had recently been tending to his garden.

Mr. Charoen lived alone but received occasional visits from his girlfriend. Villagers and friends reported that he suffered from heart disease. His last known activity was sending a sticker in a LINE group chat the previous Friday.

Mr. Chalerm Supaporn, a member of the Chaman Subdistrict Municipality, shared that Mr. Charoen, a prolific musician in the brass band "Ruam Jai Silp Klong Pong," had recently complained of chest pains.

It remains uncertain whether his death resulted from his chronic illness or an attack by his dogs, which then began chewing his body.

The local authorities face the further issue of what to do with the dogs, numbering over 20, left with no caretaker. The community fears these animals could become a problem. Mr. Chalerm stated that discussions with the municipality’s executive committee would follow to determine a solution.

Yeah, of course they will be a problem. Animals that got the taste of human blood must be put down.

I wonder where you read that?

They have hard to fight the viruses, pathogens and bacteria human blood transfer in to their system. Better kill them off, before they suffer. Already have too many dogs here.

A misleading headline. Very unlikely he was attacked by the dogs who knew him , and for whom he was caring. He probably died of a heart attack, leaving the dogs with no food for several days before he was found. The dogs will now likely be killed, to the delight of all dog and animal haters on AN and elsewhere.

I'd be surprised if the dogs were to be killed. The public here have a deep-seated cultural and religious-based aversion to euthanising animals.

I agree...  seems exactly as you mentioned.

But, there is no need to dichotomise this between animal haters and lovers.

This is not a thread about a pit-bull attacking a grannie.

Great that you saw that. It was meant as a classic movie comment, that was put there for fun. If you cared to read what I posted after that, you would have understood. However, I don´t hold my breath, but here it is again.
