Veterans Groups Condemn Trump’s Arlington National Cemetery Photo Op

 

Donald Trump’s photographed visit to Arlington National Cemetery earlier this week has drawn widespread criticism from many veterans’ groups, members of Congress who served, and even an official who served in the former president’s Cabinet.

 

Staffers for the 2024 Republican nominee reportedly verbally abused and shoved an Arlington official who tried to prevent his photographers from taking pictures of Section 60—the part of the cemetery dedicated to veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, NPR first reported on Tuesday.

Two officials with former President Donald Trump’s campaign were accused of verbally abusing and shoving a cemetery worker during a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday after the worker allegedly attempted to prevent the staffers from filming in a restricted area of the cemetery where recent U.S. military casualties are buried.

 

On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that while the cemetery worker “filed an incident report with the military authorities over the altercation,” they “later declined to press charges” for fear of “retaliation” from Trump’s supporters.

Even though he bears as much or more of the blame for those soldiers dying as do Biden/Harris. It was Trump who cut the deal to cut and run out of Afghanistan. It was Trump who signed the deal with the Taliban to leave by May 2021. It was Trump who threw the Afghan government under the bus (so says Trump's former National Security Advisor). It was Trump who agreed to release 5,000 hard-core Taliban which led to the takeover of Afghanistan. Shame on Trump. Period.

“Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside,” the Army spokesperson said in the statement on Thursday. Section 60 is an area in the cemetery largely reserved for the graves of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“This incident was unfortunate, and it is also unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked. ANC is a national shrine to the honored dead of the Armed Forces, and its dedicated staff will continue to ensure public ceremonies are conducted with the dignity and respect the nation’s fallen deserve,” the statement said.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung disputed claims of a physical altercation, but said an unnamed individual decided to “physically block members of President Trump’s team during a very solemn ceremony.” Cheung suggested that Trump’s team has video to back up the claim, though no video of the incident has been released yet.

the video already been posted, there is NO FOOTAGE of this so called incident, so nobody knows for sure what if anything happened, my guess is its a either nothing burger, something trivia blown out of proportions in order to slag Trump.
