Kamala Harris' first solo interview!
Are you old enough to remember the "Chatty Cathy" dolls. You pull a string and it would speak from a very limited menu of pre-recorded sentences. Things like "I love you," "Let's play together," "You are my best friend," and "Orange Man Bad." -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
Pattaya is a big area. I stay at Jomtien and rarely go to "the other Porno-Pattaya". Only to Big-C and similar stores. During about 7 years, 2-4 months at time, I never have seen any fights etc on Jomtien. I don't say there isn't but I don't stay late at night, no bars or night life. To me it's 1000x safer than Los Angeles! Or any big/medium city in the States. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
That is the last area I would want to live in Bangkok. Black man harassing you around there, bums, drug addicts, thieves, alcoholics and hookers. You will see them all as you walk to those beautiful parks. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
When you move somewhere, you move there because it has something to offer, and when those areas are packed in traffic those times you want to visit, is it a problem? Just the energy in Pattaya puts me off, and I'm pretty much done after a few days now. Like to come down for a few days visiting friends, dinners, but now at 55 and married I'm not especially up for clubbing anymore which was one of the reasons I thought Pattaya was worth a visit before. Everything else that attracted me to Thailand is better than other places, so If I need a city vibe I have learned to enjoy BKK more and more the later years, especially Silom. For those who want to live in Thailand and move here, I would say, do the Pattaya and tourist places first, and then find a good place for a quiet life and a solid base you can travel from when you need changes or get bored. A good base need something to offer for you to do on daily basis, and not only hitting the bar for socializing. Paradise cease to exists at once you live there for most. Doesn't seem to happen to the most hardcore Pattaya enthusiasts, but for most -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
Lately I have been struggling to find much to keep me entertained on the screen but after a bit of searching I came across some movies I somehow missed before that kept me interested. Its a very varied bunch of movies I admit but maybe someone else will find something to interest amonst them: The General 1998 (7.2) Brendan Geeson, John Voight. Irish crime boss Martin Cahill's true story. The Savage Peace (7.6) 2015 Documentary on the suffering begun in Europe after WW2. Harrison's Flowers (7.0) 2000 Rescue of a missing journalist in worn torn Yugoslavia. Greedy People (6.2) 2024 Cop crime comedy. James Dean (7.1) 2001 His story. Northwest Passage (7.0) 1940 Spencer Tracy, classic cowboys and indians saga. The Wiper Times (7.0) 2013 War/comedy, WW1 trench newspaper producers. Apollo 13: Survival (7.3) 2024 The story. Night Moves (7.1) 1975 Gene Hackman Crime/Drama. PI tracking runaway teenager. Buffalo Bill and the Indians (6.1) 1976 Paul Newman as Buffalo Bill in a wild west show. Cosmic Psychos: Blokes You Can Trust. (7.9) 2013 You may need to be Aussie to enjoy this Aussie outback grunge band and its humour. Good viewing! -

Western Union better than “Wise”
I've used Wise for years. If I send money from The UK to Thailand just to top-up my Thai bank account, it usually takes only a few seconds because Wise has an account in Thailand and it is a local transaction. But, if I am sending money for my visa, and require it to show in my bank book as a foreign transaction, it can take a few days. It all depends on which bank you use; BB, SCB and Kasikorn best if using wise. I use kasikorn, and never have any hold-up. -

Thailand's 5-20 Year Visa Now a Bit Cheaper
I find it concerning how there are often two sets of rules for visas in most countries. If you’re just the average person then you have to accept all the limitations of the visa restrictions that are designed to prevent people from using a visa to actually immigrate illegally. Visas also serve a purpose to address security concerns about criminals and terrorists entering and staying long term, to prevent people from working illegally, and for diplomatic and political reasons. But suddenly, if you have around $30,000-$50,000, then you can just buy your way in and all of those issues are overlooked? In a way it’s kind of like saying that the rules don’t matter or even apply as long as you have money. Of course, this is something that we know and see happening in various ways all over the world, but, in this case, with these elite long term visa, it just seems a bit too obvious and blatant. -

Kamala Harris' first solo interview!
Yeah, this was pretty bad. He asked a question, and she went off topic like a talking doll only capable of spitting out a recorded message.- 1
