Extension longer than visa validity.

Recommended Posts

I have a one year Thai spouse visa that is good until 15 October but I just returned to Thailand (had to exit and reenter every 90 days due to the type of visa from Savannaket) and pointed out my visa to immigration and they gave me 90 days.

Does this mean my one year visa is good  for 14 months?

I plan to get a retirement visa next but won’t have 12 straight months of foreign income bank statements to show immigration until May 2025 ( due to withdrawal from ATM in May 2024).

Do I still need to go back to Savannaket before the 15 Oct end date on my original visa to maintain that status? Can I just go a few days before my Dec 15th expiration date?  TIA

Yep, Multi-Entry Non-O could give you 15 months if you enter the country on the last valid-until day (15Oct)

Nope, leaving Thailand after 15 Oct will cancel everything.
Going to Savannaket after 15Dec to obtain next Multi-Non-O will be a good idea though. So you can keep bouncing in and out for another 15 months.

The validity of a visa is different from the period of stay.

The validity of a visa is the period you can use it to enter Thailand.
The period of stay is granted by an Immigration officer on arrival, subject to the type of visa.

You could therefore have arrived on 14th October (visa is still valid) and been granted a stay of 90 days on entry.

You can also apply for a 60 day extension to each 90 day entry.

Possible to stay for almost 17 months with 3 border runs and 3 x 60 day extensions.

From OP...

"I have a one year Thai spouse visa.."

It's a multiple entry visa so would not be based on Thai child.

Possibly but not important.

Don't worry about it. In any event the info for OP not too important as zero follow up from him
