Does anyone know where I can buy a good quality boogie board in Phuket? I have seen the toy ones in souvenir shops but I’m looking for a good quality one. I have looked in sports shops, diving shops and of course all the souvenir shops. There are plenty available on the internet but none of them will ship to Thailand.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

which raises the next swell question: best spots?

Swells in the Indian Ocean are generally from the South.

Sumatra is to the west (Ocean side) extending south of almost all of Thailand .. thus acts as a wave barrier (island). Easterly winds often blow swell into the Andaman sea.

my logic has deduced that the further to the north the better the Thai swell .. I've often contemplated a road trip up the coast. inland there are mountains .. but how close to the coast?

or on Sumatra! .. it's like difference between the Pacific or Baja's Sea of Cortez

whats the coast like between Phuket & Rayong?

Lam Sing on Phuket can be lotsa fun body surfing.

I've seen a web site that has pix of '3m waves' at 'Lam Sing' (not googling up today.. ??) .. but could have been a wave any where .. I've never seen anything even remotely like that.

Surf shop in Chalong. As you go towards the Chalong Bay Pier.... it will be on the left side shortly after coming off the roundabout....They have real boogie boards etc....

The shop in Chalong is called Cobra Watersports. I bought some top quality boards there and am very happy with them.

Happy boogieing!
