Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah Reportedly Killed in Beirut Airstrikes

Hassan Nasrallah, the longtime leader of Hezbollah, was killed in airstrikes carried out by Israel in Beirut, according to an Israeli statement released on Saturday. The Lebanese cleric, who had led the militant group since 1992, was reportedly targeted in a Friday attack on an underground command center located in southern Beirut.

"The Israel Defense Forces confirm that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization and one of its founders, was eliminated yesterday," Israel stated in an official release shared online.

 

Nasrallah has been a significant figure in regional politics for decades, having taken the reins of Hezbollah after his predecessor, Abbas al-Musawi, was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike. His leadership of Hezbollah positioned him as a key player within the Iran-backed "Axis of Resistance," a regional alliance that opposes Israel and Western influence in the Middle East.

 

 

Nasrallah’s death, marks a major development in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, a group that has been central to the military and political landscape of Lebanon. Israel has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of being a terrorist organization, citing its involvement in numerous attacks against Israeli targets over the years.

 

The destruction of the command center in southern Beirut is seen as part of Israel’s broader efforts to weaken Hezbollah’s infrastructure and leadership. The militant group, which operates with significant Iranian backing, has long been a thorn in Israel’s side, particularly in border clashes and through its military involvement in the Syrian conflict.

Collateral damage? The Hezbollah  bunker was intentionally located  there. The buildings were populated by Hezbollah workers and associates. The people living there were all affiliated and part of the terrorist organization. Everyone knew what the risks of living at a Hezbollah HQ was. They did not care.

Nasrallah set the wheels in motion when he helped the  responsible parties of the 1983 mass murder of US and French  nationals in Beirut.  Hezbollah was  responsible for the planning and execution of the  bombings, which resulted in the deaths of 307 people, including 241 U.S. military personnel and 58 French soldiers. Nasrallah  had been been providing organizational cover and funding for terrorists.

 

 Ibrahim Aqil, the Hezbollah operations commander recently killed in an Israeli strike, had a $7 million bounty on his head for  the 1983 Beirut bombings  Fuad Shukr also implicated  in the Beirut bombings  had just overseen the mass murder of 12 Druze children in a missile strike when he was eliminated in in July. Both were close associates of Nasrallah and leaders of Hezbollah.

 

And now Nasrallah joins them. 

 

Remember too that Hezbollah was created by the Iranian Republican Guards, the militant anti western Iranian  military group which has had a direct role in the  murder of 500,000 syrians and the creation of 14 million Syrian refugees. Nasrallah actively supported the slaughter of Assad opponents.

 

Anyone complaining over his death, is a supporter of the Syrian genocide.

Interesting article today on the Financial Times on how the Hezbollah, by providing military support to the Syrian regime of the al-Assad family, and by helping to crush the popular uprise in the country bordering Lebanon, became permeable to the Israeli intelligence agencies.

 

The Hezbollah evolved from a homegrown terrorist organization, whose adherents were handpicked from members of closely related Shia tribes, to regional power broker, enlisting ever-increasing numbers of fighters without adequate vetting, becoming arrogant and careless in the process.

Furthermore, to support the al-Assad regime, the Hezbollah had to interact on a regular basis with the notoriously corrupt Syrian intelligence services, and with the Russian intelligence services, whose every move is closely monitored by the USA.

The Israeli intelligence agencies had therefore countless opportunities and time to infiltrate the Hezbollah, draw a detailed organizational chart, and carefully select sensible targets. 

 

The suffering of the Syrian people at the hands of the Hezbollah has not been in vane. If many Hezbollah leaders faced the divine justice this month, it is also thanks to the sacrifice made by the Syrian people.

I would imagine it would be tempting for leadership of any Middle East political organization or social welfare group to take up arms against Israel - Iran will spew cash at you.

 

Unfortunately, these militant organizations hide the real problem - the oppression of Palestinians in the occupied terrorities. This will never be alleviated by terrorist attacks.

Update: Nasrallah's Body Recovered After Israeli Strike, Hezbollah Suffers Major Losses

 

The body of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was retrieved from the rubble of an Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to medical and security sources. The airstrike, which targeted Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in the Dahiyeh district, also killed more than 20 Hezbollah operatives, including some of Nasrallah’s closest allies and key military figures.

 

Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah’s death on Saturday, though the exact cause of death remained unclear. Sources indicated that his body showed no direct wounds, suggesting that blunt trauma from the explosion’s force may have been the cause. A short video, circulated by Lebanese media, purportedly shows the recovery of Nasrallah’s body from the underground bunker where the attack occurred.

In addition to Nasrallah, several high-ranking Hezbollah officials were killed in the airstrike. Among them were Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, and Ibrahim Hussein Jazini, who led Nasrallah’s personal security unit. Samir Tawfiq Deeb, one of Nasrallah’s advisors, and Abd al-Amir Muhammad Sablini, responsible for Hezbollah’s force build-up, also perished. Another key figure, Ali Nayef Ayoub, who oversaw Hezbollah’s firepower, was among the slain. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Jazini and Deeb were especially valuable due to their deep knowledge of Hezbollah’s operations and their close ties to Nasrallah.

Ali Karaki, who managed Hezbollah’s military activities in southern Lebanon, had previously survived an Israeli assassination attempt earlier in the week. Hezbollah confirmed his death on Sunday. In addition to Hezbollah members, Abbas Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force, was also killed in the strike.

 

The attack occurred as Hezbollah leaders and IRGC officials gathered in the group's primary underground command center in Beirut. According to the IDF, the headquarters were located beneath residential buildings, dangerously close to a United Nations-run school. The Israeli Air Force deployed F-15I fighter jets, which dropped dozens of bunker-busting bombs on the site, dealing a significant blow to Hezbollah’s command structure.

Hezbollah customarily using muslim civilians as human shields, and none has anything to say, especially from the pro-Palestinian field.

Iran supplies the Hezbollah the weaponry to hit Israeli civilians but, with regards to the Hezbollah's infrastructure defense, it expects the Shia Lebanese population to volunteer their families and themselves as human shields.
