A lightning strike has ignited a fire at an office building in an ammunition storage facility in Ayutthaya, prompting an urgent firefighting response amid ongoing rain storm.

At 14:00 on October 2, the Phra Ram Radio Centre and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Ayutthaya Province received a report of a fire at the Ammunition Factory Department's office building, located in the Weapons Industrial Centre of the Army Ordnance Department, Ban Ko Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District.

Local disaster prevention officials, along with nearby local government units, rescue volunteers, and foundation members, quickly rushed to the scene to assess the situation.

The fire engulfed the single-story wooden building with intense flames, which continued to rage despite the light rain falling in the area. Firefighting teams worked several hours to bring the blaze under control, but the building was almost totally destroyed.

No injuries or fatalities were reported. The investigation is ongoing to confirm that the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
