Two Schoolgirls Injured After Truck Tyre Breaks Loose and Hits Motorcycle
In a startling accident, two female students were injured when a loose tyre from a 10-wheel ice truck struck the motorcycle they were riding on, causing them to fall and sustain injuries. The incident was captured on CCTV. The accident occurred on Ekachai Road, outside the Samut Songkhram Polytechnic College in Lad Yai sub-district. Police Lieutenant Niphat Kosakul, a deputy inspector at Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station, received a report of the accident involving a tyre that had detached from a 10-wheel truck and hit a motorcycle, resulting in injuries. Upon arrival, authorities found the white ice truck, license plate from Samut Songkhram, with its rear left wheel missing. The detached wheel was located nearby on the side of the road. The motorcycle was found with damage to its rear wheel, and two female students, aged 17 and 18, were treated for abrasions and bruises before being transported to the hospital. The motorcycle driver, 31-year-old Mr. Saman, stated that he was taking the students to Mae Klong market when he heard a loud explosion. Initially, he thought it was a transformer exploding, but then he felt something hit the rear of the motorcycle. He tried to keep the bike steady, but the students were thrown off, sustaining injuries. The truck driver, Mr. Channarong, said he was transporting ice to a plant just 500 metres away when the rear tyre came loose and struck the motorcycle. Authorities have charged him with reckless driving, causing injury to others, and legal action will follow. Picture from CCTV -- 2024-10-20 -

Foreign Election Interference in the US 2024 Election!
No one is suggesting "voter IDs" be issued. So like the rape and incest argument... You think there are a lot of 80-year-old black women that have never driven and have no ID? That's hilarious. No one (as far as I know) has called for a "voter ID", any more than there are calls for alcohol IDs or cigarette IDs. Voter ID laws only require people show ID to vote. -

EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
Coming up on 2 years (Oct 30), of owning the 2022 MG ZS EV, and still Lovin' It. Can't think of any negatives for us. Really like the ZS, ICE & E versions. We seem to average 20k +/- kms a year. 2 yrs / 40k kms with ICE version, and now 2 yrs / 35.5k with the E version. (19.5k the 1st year). Been hanging around the house more this past year. Half our kms are O&A, requiring CSs & hotel stays. Half our local driving is also away from the house, exploring locally (50-125 kms, one way), no CSs or hotels needed. ~95%, or more, of home charging is done with solar. We really have not need for the grid, though connected for ฿26 a month, JIC. MG dealer, service shop has been excellent, though very little needed, aside from check ups @ 10k kms. Local dealer is also their oops / body shop, and did an excellent job with our minor oops, and Roojai insurance was excellent, start to finish. No negatives worth mentioning. BEVs fits our lifestyle & transport needs perfectly, whether car, MB or ebike. Stated many times, for us, savings (long game) was motivation to buying, and afterwards, performance was way more impressive than expected, making it an even better choice for us. Makes driving fun again. If wanting either, highly recommend owning or at least test driving a BEV, before your next vehicle purchase. With that, think I'm done with this thread, unless asked a specific question. I think everything I could think of was covered in the thread. Thanks for contributing, asking questions, and helping with my choice before owning, and along the way. HAPPY MOTORING Solar & EV info is why I joined the forum, so thanks for all the info and assistance with those. Owning E-MB for 3 yrs, BEV for 2 years, w/Solar for 2 yrs, to compliment them. House for rent near the temple how is it
We live equidistant from four temples. You get used to the morning prayers, the odd bell tolling away, can be quite pleasant.....the village heads droning on are much more annoying. The worst part is Temple events (once/twice a week?)......the loudspeakers must be illegal. I would guess easily over 100 dB stood near to them...and they are obsessed with the big, deep bass notes......they are used, I am told, to advertise something is going on. I would make every effort to live as far away from a temple, particular ones that accommodate markets, as possible. -

Illegal to change lanes on a bridge?
The 'cops' hang out at specific area's of poor road design so they can catch people out on such technicalities.. It seems the Police in Pratunam have their preferred spots to make their cash, Over the past 25 years or so of driving and riding a motorcycle in Bangkok I can point out that getting pulled over by the BiB is by far the exception and certainly not a common occurrence. That said - the Police are now relying on camera's a lot more. We are getting a plenty of fines for crossing a white line. At one junction we often use, we want to exit the expressway and use a flyover... there is a narrow window of 'dashed white lines' via which to get to the central lanes and use the fly over. But, this also means drivers can't just 'flow and merge' they have to stop and lane change only at the dashed-white-lines (green arrow), or face a 500 baht fine if they merge in a manner that would be safer (yellow arrow).... (we get caught by the camera quite regularly here). As for the Op: The only solution is to 'switch lanes' across to the right most lanes immediately when exiting central world parking - everyone else does this & makes traffic worse... but the BiB don't care - they instead create a worse situation by preventing lane changes on a bridge. -
