Are Older Men in Thailand Trading Love for Financial Ruin

Recommended Posts

Real simple. Older men flock to Thailand because of woke libturdishness in the West. Ever seen how nasty looking and scowling Western women look these days? Sheesh. If looks could kill. Couldn't imagine entering into some kind of legal agreement with them. Thanks to all the woke sh!t these Western b1tches hate men - and they don't even know why - that's how effective the programming has been.

You said, "It's quite interesting, when I was a Cayman lawyer earning 6 figures I got my then wife a job as a secretary. She earned 60,000 dollars on top of my salary. Do you think she paid for the rent, food or necessities? No. All saved for her."

Sorry, I can't account for dim people, if guys can only retain a woman if they pay for them then it is not my fault.

I can give you my contrasting story though.

During the 1990's and 2000's I was earning about £140,000 as a freelance software engineer a year through European contracts and one USA contract,  it was mostly tax-free seeing as I set up the company in the British Virgin Isles.

My then-wife had a 150-seat Thai restaurant in an expensive area in England from 1994 and for the next 27 years, the takings were £12,000 a week, and the profit margin was high.

I think after salaries and other costs, tax etc she made a profit of about £150,000 a year, our two kids went to private school all of their lives.

We pooled our money and bought a few houses over the years, they are now worth millions of pounds, and we retired early.

So that is one example of a male and female pooling their resources, therefore, your claim that women either expect not to work or keep all of the money themselves is not the case, it might just be happening to people like you.

You are seriously dim, but are not aware of it, clearly. I said the ex wife got a salary, she worked for the money.I never had to pay her a cent, she made plenty of money. The law firm she worked for paid her 60,000, I did not. That woman was fantastically loyal and there was never a question of "paying  to retain her", what are you on about?

If the takings in the restaurant were 12,000 a week, even with a high profit margin of 10% that's 1000 per week. Hardly big coin.

140,000 a year plus 4000 a month but you bought "a few houses" that are worth millions now? How? That income is nowhere near enough to "buy a few houses worth milions".  You'd have to put down 200,000 deposit for a house worth one million, but you bought them like confetti on a 140K salary? Do tell how, lol. I bought a house in the sought after area of St Albans in 1998, even in 2024 that 4bed house is only worth 500,000.,

Anyway, I was able to buy houses, whilst they're not worth millions, retaining my autonomy is priceless, being tied to a 60 year old aging woman because of finances would be my idea of a living nightmare.

My two kids also go to private school, btw, hardly a big accomplishment, tons of guys on here send their kids to private school.

I live in a large, three bed detached house, all rooms ensuite, set in 1.5 rai and a maids house in the garden ....rent free.

In return I pay the bills......2000/3000B/month and for food and drink.....coppers.

Not a bad partnership as partnerships go.

And how old is the lady?

Me minus 26.

That's good going.

Anyway, I guess I should clarify. In instances where one or two parties are in economic need, they may well pool resources, as there is otherwise no way to meet bills and living expenses. However, where both parties have a sufficient income, or one party has a relatively high income, it is common for the party with the highest income to meet the cost of daily necessities like rent, food etc, particularly if that is a man. If a woman then makes an additional salary, the man normally has no issue if she keeps the money for herself, and she certainly is inclined to do so.

The fantasy of a true "partnership" where both parties pay all costs exactly equally, is quite rare, and when it happens more a matter of necessity than desire from both parties.

In your particular case of course the lady probably has no additional cost in letting you live in the house, so this is a mutually beneficial relationship.

The main rule of the thumb here is never "buy"...always "rent" !!

Always be worth more alive, then dead. Putting anything in the woman's name is the last thing to do if you want to live long enough. It's same back in the West but here one can get bumped off just for a scooter.

Many think they are the one and only, while behind their backs,  the fine lady is enjoying intimate yoga with multiple other partners.

Someone gets all pumped up in their mind getting ready to move. It gets built up too much. Then the reality of it does not measure up to the expectations and fantasies manufactured in their head (can lead to complaining about a lot of stuff once you have made the move 🤔).

You're projecting again, everyone i know loves it here vs back home

You're never the one and only, unless living in a strict Muslim country.

Your wife pocketed all of the money from her salary, which to me is seriously dim.

A profit margin of 10% in a good quality restaurant is another seriously dim comment. (Especially as most of the takings were cash).

"...being tied to a 60 year old aging woman because of finances would be my idea of a living nightmare.", where did I say I am tied, try and read the details, try and read more slowly, I wrote "Ex-Wife", we split the money years ago.

I started buying houses in 1985 when they cost next to nothing, eg the first house when I was in my 20's cost £42k, with a deposit of 10%, another example was another one bought in 1994, paid £175k (mortgage), sold it two years ago for £750k, those are just two examples. In those days all you had to do was fill out a self-assessment mortgage form and you had the mortgage offer within two weeks.

You really should read what people have written instead of ranting on like a madman, I said "....they are now worth millions of pounds", I did not say I bought houses costing millions as they cost bugger all when I bought them decades ago.

I know all of these things seem impossible to people who have been employees all of their lives, but they are not.

It must be a tiddly little house if it is only worth 500k now in a place like St Albans (I went there lots of times as a friend lived there), it looks like you missed the boat a long time ago.

"....tons of guys on here send their kids to private school.", yes true, but there is no way you can compare private schools in Thailand to private schools in England, the rich Thais here send their kids to school in the UK.

I don't understand your angry reaction to my comments, you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about something.

If I were to show off and lie about things I would lie and say I have hundreds of millions, not just millions, you won't believe this but my brother does have that amount in properties, he has been building nursing homes  for years and a management team has been running them for him.

Well, I was making plenty of scooby snacks, why would I take her chow?

I bought the very large 4bed house in St Albans in 1998 it cost72000 GBP,  now worth 500,000 GBP, but even if you bought in 1985 fo 42000 it's not worth millions now, nor is the one from 1994, but the 750K is just about within the realms of the possible, so you made 640K, not bad, but not millions is it?

You don't have to tell me the cost of private school, I went to a British private school mysellf, there's huge price differentials.

What do you mean if you lied, you DID lie, you said millions and actually made about 640K you lying hound. And now your brother has hundreds of millions? Lol. This is like brothers Grimm...

I clearly stated the two houses I mentioned were examples, also I did not say any one of the houses individually was worth millions, the combination of all the houses was worth that, read it again.

Your replies are like Brothers Dim as you skip over the details of what I wrote and come up with some imaginary story.

I hope your job in the insurance company was not related to the risk, the actuarial component as the company would have gone bankrupt.

35% of my assets are in Thailand, under my control. 65% are in Australia.

The 35% will go to my Thai GF when I cark it. It's in her interest I stay alive as long as possible. It's also in her interest we stay together.

I would take some kind of financial hit if I was refused an extension on my visa. Otherwise no.

The one problem with that , is that if some of us are "bumped off", we have others waiting in the wings to demolish the ones who did it. Some people think they can get away with anything, but that doesn't work with some. And not all women are cheaters. Maybe 40% tops, and men around 70%, which leaves a lot of people who know what morality means.

Most of the people I know went because of death.

There were a couple that ran out of money.

Not sure if a better life than the one I have here is humanly possible.

Out cycling every morning in perfect weather, this morning at 7am it was misty on the way out and sunny on the way back.

Who would want to live in upcountry Isaan surrounded by thousands of ex-bar girls?

My girlfriend actually told me she prefers to be with a Farang BECAUSE a Farang does not expect to pay everything for his woman. She thinks that most Thai men are old-fashioned in the sense that they will expect to pay for their woman, making her dependent upon him. She told me that with me, she can feel like she contributes as much financially as me, and feels she is her own woman more than she ever could with a Thai man. I couldn't believe it when she told me, he had to ask her for clarification about 3 times before I was convinced I had heard it right and it was not just something else getting lost in translation. Normally we use an app to split our expenses 50-50. Food, rent, everything. I do sometimes offer to pay for things which I know are expensive for her or that she normally would not do or get if it wasn't for me. But we are generally talking about relatively small things. Pizza, massage, something like that.

And no we are not married, but she tells me she is not so interested in marriage in general.

You'd be surprised how independent some Thai women are, especially if they have a decent income themselves.

And with all of this, my gf still does not expect or even want me to do half of the household, like an independent woman in my country would. She honestly treats me like a <deleted> king. If I attempt to clean up, she will tell me "go rest, you are tired", even though she works more than me. She won't take no for an answer. She does so much for me. I do make sure I give her some good D in return most nights. I've had one relationship before with a western woman and it was the total opposite. She was arrogant, terribly lazy, expected me to clean up after her, just horrible. Didn't want sex most days cause she was too tired. I will likely never go back to western women.

Sure, many Thai women who are with westerners think of the whole picture; the prospects of maybe moving to a better house or being able to travel a bit do help, but mostly Thai women are interested in being with a decent guy who doesn't drink too much, doesn't beat her and doesn't cheat too much. However, I will also admit that I like being with a Thai woman because of the entire picture, including the fact that it makes it easier for me to live in Thailand.
