I went to the Uk during the March to May school holiday, had my visa renewed for a year b 4 i went home so it expires in April 2008, on my return to Bangkok on May 7th 2007 they stamped my passport admitted until 30th April 2008 but i did not see the small piece of paper in the front telling me i should check in at my local imm office on 7 June, does this mistake mean i will have to pay an overstay fine max of 20,000 baht or because my visa is valid until 2008 they will just stamp me for 90 days from 7th May to 6th August.

Would be grateful for a quick answer as i will go to the immigration office to see what they say this morning.

Thanks in advance

Mike

90 days starts as of your return

Is your visa a multiple or single entry?

If single entry, it is likely that they gave you 30 days (until 7 June) to go to the immigration and extend your stay up to April 2008 (form TM7 if I remember correctly).

If multiple entry, before 7 June you had the option either to do a visa run, or to go to the immigration to extend your stay.

Edit: Sorry I misread: You actually extended your visa before going to the UK (and I assume done a re-entry permit at the same time). In that case I don't see why they asked you to report on 7 June. It should have been around 7 August for the 90-day report.

Ok everybody thank you for your posts, just an update went to the immigration yesterday morning and was told that i had overstayed on my non imm b visa from June 7th up until yesterday, was told not to do it again ( i should be paying a fine of 20,000 baht) he gave me a new 90 day stamp in my passport and I went home a very relieved man.

Just shows that there are some good immigration oficers left out there.

Thanks again for your help

Now I understand.

The expiry date of the Non Imm sticker is not as important as the

date on the entry stamp...........

I am not sure why you only got a one month?

It must have been a slip up by the officer

and may be why you were treated so well yesterday.

A good warning to all to check the stamp before you walk away from the immigration desk at the airport.

Can’t have been that either. When Moonhunteruk writes “b 4” I guess he means “before”. When he writes that he had his “visa renewed for a year b 4 i went home so it expires in April 2008” I guess he means that he obtained a new extension of stay until April 2008 before he flew from Thailand to the UK. He says he returned to Bangkok on May 7th and was admitted until April 30th 2008, which indicates that he also got himself a re-entry permit before he left Thailand and on his return was admitted on the basis of that re-entry permit. It is still a puzzle to me why he had a slip of paper stapled in his passport requesting him to report to Immigration within 30 days of his arrival.
