Man Climbs High-Voltage Pylon Due to Stress, Rescued by Locals and Police
A distressed father, upset with his daughter, climbed a high-voltage pole in a rural area of Ayutthaya province. The man, identified as Mr. Juk, aged 62, was found holding the pole, exhausted, while local residents and rescue workers tried to calm him down. The incident took place on October 19, in Moo 11, Khao Mao subdistrict, Uthai district. The Phutthaisawan Foundation's radio center in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya received a call and quickly dispatched rescue teams to the scene. When they arrived, a large crowd had gathered to watch the tense situation unfold. Rescue workers from the foundation, together with local residents, shouted words of encouragement to persuade Mr. Juk to come down safely. He was sitting on the pole, dangling his legs and appearing extremely weak. The area around the base of the pole was overgrown with grass, complicating rescue efforts. Fortunately, a nearby Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) team noticed the incident and brought a crane with a workers cage to assist. After over 30 minutes of persuasion, Mr. Juk, though visibly fatigued, began to climb down. However, due to his old age and physical weakness, he struggled. Rescue personnel then used the PEA's crane and cage to safely bring him down. Mr. Juk was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. When questioned, Mr. Juk, who works as an undertaker, revealed that he was deeply stressed and upset with his daughter, which led him to climb the high-voltage pole with the intent of ending his life. Thankfully, the quick response from the community and rescue teams averted a tragedy. Amnat Jangtrong, a Phutthaisawan Foundation officer, explained that he was alerted by the radio centre and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, he saw Mr. Juk lying across the pole. Together with locals, they tried to talk him down but were unsuccessful until the PEA team intervened. Mr. Juk, clearly exhausted, was safely rescued before the situation escalated into a tragedy. Authorities received reports at approximately 10.10 on the evening of October 20, of traffic collision involving a tour bus in the Klong Dong area, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima province. The incident occurred on the inbound Friendship Highway (Km. 35) near Mae Chompoo Restaurant in Phayayen Subdistrict. Emergency responders on arrival found the crash involved a tour bus with registration number from Kanchanaburi, which is reported to have lost all braking power, resulting in a collision with a parked truck and trailer at the side of the road. The bus had 51 people on board and the two most seriously injured were females, trapped in the wreckage. Rescue teams used cutting tools to extract those two individuals from inside the bus. First aid was administered at the scene, and the injured were transported to hospitals, with 41 people requiring hospital treatment, two having life threatening injuries and six in a serious condition. with the remainder not expected to be detained overnight. The case is being handled by Police Lieutenant Colonel Auaychai Promwong, of Klong Dong Police Station. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. This growing scandal is now under the microscope of Thai authorities who are preparing to level money laundering charges against those involved. Complaints began surfacing between October 10th and 20th as people from across the nation, and even from overseas, came forward. So far, police have interviewed 2,822 individuals who claim a collective loss of approximately 965 million baht through investments in The iCon Group's dietary supplements. Police plan to implement additional charges against 18 suspects at The iCon Group, including allegations of money laundering, fraudulent borrowing, and unlawful assembly. Investigators hope to wrap up this aspect of the case by the end of the week. Furthermore, more arrests are on the horizon, including those of larger dealers overseeing smaller networks. Initially, accusations against The iCon Group involved public fraud and computer-related crimes for falsely presenting information. Many franchisees, having paid hefty sums for dealership rights, complain they were unable to move products as promised by the company during training sessions. Adding to the pressure, Thailand Consumer Protection Police Division has seized four vehicles tied to The iCon Group, including luxury Lexuses and a Toyota van. Among the claimants was a 70-year-old man from Macau, who attended a training session in Thailand last year. He invested 250,000 baht, attracted by a Thai acquaintance from Hong Kong who had his own stakes in the business. Now, rattled by emerging revelations, he too has filed his grievance in Bangkok. Thai Parties Dismiss Election Commission's Investigation into Thaksin

The petitions claim Thaksin exerted control over the ruling Pheu Thai Party and five other former coalition parties. The allegations stem from a meeting of the six party leaders at Thaksin's Ban Chan Song La residence in Bangkok on the day Srettha Thavisin was dismissed as Prime Minister. The EC has a 30-day deadline for the probe. Petitions from an anonymous individual, Thai Pakdee Party chairman Warong Dechgitvigrom, Ruangkrai Leekitwattana from the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), and Noppharut Worachitwutthikun from the Phirap Khao 2006 group, urge the EC to ask the court to dissolve all six parties for allegedly breaching Section 28 of the political parties’ law. Phumtham Wechayachai, Thailand's deputy prime minister and Pheu Thai Party leader, stated that the meeting was merely a gathering for a meal. Thaksin’s home is also the residence of his daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the current Prime Minister. Discussions at the meeting concerned potential replacements for Mr Srettha Thavisin, but the next day, Pheu Thai opted for Ms Paetongtarn, who secured the parliamentary vote. Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, also Deputy Prime Minister, expressed no concern over the probe. PM’s Office Minister Chousak Sirinil noted the government's readiness to counter the petitions, arguing the absence of Thaksin’s dominance, reported Bangkok Post. Democrat Party's Thepthai Senpong suggested the EC's decision to investigate may have been influenced by photos of party leaders at Thaksin's residence.
