Bangkok Governor Supports Congestion Charge to Curb Traffic
Yeah, a MUCH broader strategy, like fix the roads!!! Meter the lights, etc... Making a congestion fee without making the roads more properly usable just creates a non-incentive to fix/improve anything and just let the traffic get congested to collect more fees. What a scam. -

Yingluck Shinawatra Promotes Thai Cuisine from London
Yingluck Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, has recently highlighted her love for northern Thai cuisine through a Facebook post. From her current base in London, Yingluck shared her fondness for Khao Soi, a renowned dish from northern Thailand, which she sampled at a local London restaurant coincidentally named "Khao Soi." However, the eatery creatively pronounces it as Khao Soi-I, giving it a unique Japanese flair. Joining her for this culinary experience was her son, Supasek Amonrchat, aged 22. Yingluck expressed her delight at witnessing the popularity of this northern Thai dish in the UK capital, noting the impressive queues outside the restaurant. Her post proudly celebrated the international recognition of Khao Soi, which ranked sixth among the world's 100 best dishes on the TasteAtlas list this April. TasteAtlas is an experiential online travel guide that caters to those with a penchant for traditional food. Yingluck's culinary musings on social media offer more than just a taste of Thai culture; they subtly weave in elements of nostalgia and pride associated with northern Thailand, a region where the Shinawatra family has strong historical and political roots, particularly in Chang Mai province. Chiang Mai, in particular, has been a significant stronghold for the Pheu Thai party, championed by the Shinawatra family for decades. Exiled from Thailand since 2017, Yingluck fled shortly before she was sentenced in absentia for negligence connected to the controversial rice subsidy programme. Now living in London, she continues to maintain her cultural ties and share her enthusiasm for Thai delicacies with the international community. Her recent London dining anecdote is just one among the many ways she celebrates her roots while abroad, reported Thai PBS. Picture courtesy: Matichon Online -- 2024-10-21 -

When Trump wins can we expect more of the same from the violent Left?
Another predictable consequence of a Trump wins especially if he steals power like he tried to last time, is resistance by entire states of his maga fascist agenda. That will be more pronounced in solid blue states and much more messy in more purple state. People in red states who aren't happy with the changes will suffer but many will move to blue states, and vice versa. In that sense, a least a shadow of regional civil war. Also learn now about SCHEDULE F if you don't already know. SCHEDULE F is going to be major news if Trump wins. It's how he'll be able to end American democracy and it's perfectly legal. -

I have had my LTR visa for a year now. My friend is a longtime retired person who meets all the conditions and would also like to have an LTR wealthy pensioner visa, but he has no education papers. Is this a problem? -

Will marriage O visa holders need to use the Thai e-Visa website?
For people with marriage visas (non-immigrant O visas) + multiple re-entry permits, will you have to fill out an online ETA or online arrival card during the coming months? Or can we just waltz into Thailand with just the visa sticker, visa extension stamp, and re-entry permit stamp as always? https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ -

Trump ahead in all battleground states - ALL OF THEM!
I think "Russian collusion hoax", refers to the whole Steel dossier, Alpha bank, Trump colluding with Russia thing, not whether or not Russia tried to interfere with the election. The Mueller investigation went on for quite a while and did not find Trump guilty of any wrongdoing, even though we heard almost daily that an indictment was coming any day. You guys will all claim it's not so, but it is so. -

Drunk Porsche Driver Offers B200,000 Settlement, Victim’s Father Questions Charges
The police in this country are a joke the driver should be arrested and sentenced to at least 5 years prison, the compensation should be 10 million baht which might help with medical bills but the driver should also pay them. This accident brings back memories of the Russian women that ran down and killed two kids one from America and the other from Liechtenstein and apart from the police being payed off millions of baht nothing was done about the women she said she fell asleep,,, BS look at how the car went straight at these kids that was premeditated murder full stop. 1699202952210.mp4 -

Drunk Porsche Driver Offers B200,000 Settlement, Victim’s Father Questions Charges
How utterly insane that "offer" is. Insulting! How despicable the lawyer is to make such a dehumanizing offer! The lawyer and his firm should be named in the article. It would be a public service for people to know what law firm to avoid hiring at all costs. This piss-poor journalism is not the fault of ASEANNOW, of course. They are just passing the news on for us. I just wish there could be some real journalism practiced somewhere on this planet! That driver should get 2 - 5 years in prison. Forfeiture of the vehicle, with any value from it going to the victims. And monetary damages should be at least 1 - 5 million, for each victim, along with any medical costs (that insurance doesn't cover), associated with the accident, paid by him for the rest of the victim's lives. He's too poor? That's just too bad. Wages should be garnished for the rest of his life. And if he plays games to get around wage/asset garnishment, send him to prison for a few more years. -

Best place to eat steam fish in North Jomtien
You should get out more 😊 So if you think that's where Jomtien begins, then what do you call the area in between the Police box and Phra Tamnak Soi 5? Phra Jomtien? Jomtien Noi? I guess you don't know about Hu Kwang Bay either....
