"Do you personally believe White people smell like wet dog sometimes?"

Recommended Posts

I am an old dog at 72 so I hope I don't smell like one...555. I'm actually very fortunate in that, unlike most men which are normal, me and my armpits have always smelled very little when dirty or sweaty even after sport. But I do have some towels which get to smell like old dog after very little use. Even normal washing fails to shift it for long. Only a 90° wash seems to get rid of it completely. Anyway  deodorant should solve the problem for anyone. So there is no excuse being smelly.

And have therefore forgotten how to properly construct a sentence.

This is too often the case, I fear.

However, this is not out of personal choice, but due to something else....

What else, I wish I knew.

Well... Unless you take public transportation... or lived in apartment buildings or been in areas of color where working people were... you would not know.

I lived in the US for 55 years... I do not think your 10 years more there justifies anything.. Perhaps where you lived and worked and how you travelled justifies it.

East NY -- Brooklyn    and I took the A train for many years

Go hang around Africans, Indians and Euros if you want stench. Although I have never met a smelly Brit

Personally, I find a lot of white people a) don't brush their teeth properly, or don't look after their teeth, especially the older people (men, mostly - women seem to be better) and b) either are not changing their T-shirts often enough, granted that Thailand is more humid and warm than they are used to back home, but they should really try more.

Euros have universally bad teeth, Brits being the worst

The shoes are the only thing I can't clean.  If you throw them in a bucket and wash them they smell like bad water.  You can't win with shoes.

If someone works out how to make washable shoes I will buy them with my Digital Wallet.

Buy trainers. You can just throw them in the washing machine on a cool wash.

Yes, this heat gets to me.

I have fairly bad BO after a few hours.

And I refuse to take off my shoes when entering a Thai house because my socks think worse than my BO.
I have tried perfume and stuff but it doesn’t really help.

Have you tried having a shower and washing your socks?!  Not necessarily at the same time but it can be done?

There's no excuse for 'stinky' people...

Coming back from the gym or sports maybe one thing, but most facilities have showers there.

But, some people just do not shower & change their clothes enough...  i.e. people need to shower 3x or 4x per day if necessary.

There are days when I shower 4 times (morning, then after exercising or doing something outside, before going out, and when I'm back) and of course, putting on freshly laudered clothes...

Washing clothes properly, in proper antibacterial detergent makes a difference (IMO).

As far as not taking shoes off when going into someone elses house, thats a cultural no-no and offensive... but no surpises there.

Stinky feet....  Some people just sweat more at their feet, but again, there is no excuse for that to cause an offensive odour unless there is a medical issue....    freshly laundered socks (washed in antibacterial detergent), shower regularly and 'actually wash the feet' don't just let them get wet  - I'm surprised if people don't know this, but I'm guessing many may find it 'harder to bend down' and actually lather up their feet and wash them properly....

Then choice of footwear matters...  if someone is wearing footwear that doesn't easily breath, then the feet get hotter and sweat more... Wear very breathable footwear  (and wear cotton socks).

I have 'winter' shoes (boots and trainers) for colder / wet cliamates that are water proof and don't breathe so easily - I don't wear them when walking around Thailand...   BUT... I also have 'city motorcycle boots' and the feet get very hot in those, usually sweaty, but again, they don't stink - I use deoderisers in the shoes, always use fresh clean socks etc...  (even if I've only worn the boots for a hour - the socks get changed before I wear any other footwear etc).

So.. If someone is exceptionally stinky - they have a medical issue, or just don't know how to manage themselves properly in a hot cliamate.
