An incident occurred in Khlong Hae, Hat Yai District at approximately 11.45 on October 29, when a 66 year old man attempted to set his home ablaze after a domestic dispute, only to be saved by quick-thinking neighbours. The fire started in a two-story townhouse, with flames spreading through the living areas and filling the property with thick smoke.

Identified as Mr. Pramuan, the homeowner reportedly became despondent after a heated argument with his wife. Frustrated with family conflicts, he initially attempted to electrocute himself using a kettle cord, but the attempt failed when the circuit breaker tripped. He then set fire to the house using his lighter, intending to end his life in the flames.

Neighbours, alarmed by the smoke and flames, rushed to contain the fire with buckets of water but were unable to control it, but were able to drag Mr. Pramuan out of the building. Firefighters from the Khlong Hae and Hat Yai municipalities arrived swiftly, managing to extinguish the flames before they consumed the entire property. Most of the living room and household items sustained significant damage, but the fire did not spread to nearby homes.

Police officers questioned Mr. Pramuan, who admitted his actions stemmed from long-standing family tensions and a recent argument with his wife. He confessed that, in anger, he had declared he would burn down the house, and, feeling taunted, followed through on the threat.

Following the incident, police counseled Mr. Pramuan, encouraging him to seek support rather than resorting to self- harm. Family members were advised to engage in open dialogue to prevent future conflicts.
