webfact
Picture courtesy: Xinhua Four Thai nationals were tragically killed, and one was wounded in a rocket attack near the town of Metula, close to the Israel-Lebanon border, as announced by Thailand's Foreign Minister on Friday. The event reflects the ever-escalating tensions within the region. Maris Sangiampongsa, Thailand's Foreign Minister, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and has directed the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv to extend full support to the victims' families. The Foreign Minister also called for a return to peace talks, urging all involved parties to protect innocent civilians caught in the escalating violence. This event starkly echoes last year's attacks when Hamas militants launched assaults across Israeli borders, leading to the deaths of 41 Thai nationals among 1,200 people. This attack triggered a counter-response from Israel, wreaking devastation across Gaza, leading to numerous casualties, and rippling over to affect neighbouring Lebanon with strikes against Hezbollah targets. Complicating the situation further, 30 Thai nationals had been abducted during the October 7 attack, with six still believed to be held captive, according to Thai officials. This new development brings the plight of Thai workers in the region into sharper focus. Before the uprising, approximately 30,000 Thai nationals were employed in Israel, predominantly within the agriculture sector, forming one of the largest migrant worker communities there. These individuals are now caught in the crossfire of a conflict not of their making, highlighting the often-unseen human cost of geopolitical strife. As the violence continues, there is an urgent call for renewed diplomatic efforts that prioritise the safety and security of civilians, a cry echoed by foreign powers witnessing the suffering from afar, reported Reuters. -- 2024-11-02
bannork
I understand Thais who have borrowed a lot of money to work in Israel, wanting desperately to at least pay that money off before coming home, but that country will never be safe after its extreme violence towards its neighbours for several decades. By the way, this story is already 24 hours old.

Israel did not invade Gaza. There is no justification for what happened on October 7.

Appalling , blaming Israel for this attack . Israel gets bombed...................and it's Israel's fault ? Nope, this is because of the people who sent the bombs , not the people who got bombed . Israel responds to attacks this this , that is why its neighbours gets bombed in return .

A two state solution is the way forward but this is always denied by the Israeli PM f Thai workers caught in the crossfire, should leave the country. Israel has been land grabbing, persecuting and killing Palestinians since 1948. That is appalling.

Hamas /Hezbollah both reject a two state solution , they both want one Palestinian state . Better if you find another topic to comment on , until you learn the basics Israel have continually seized Palestinian land since 1948. If any two state solution is unacceptable to Hamas and Hezbollah, it is because of this A quote from Wikipedia 'By 2010, when direct talks were scheduled to be restarted, continued growth of settlements on the West Bank and continued strong support of settlements by the Israeli government had greatly reduced the land and resources that would be available to a Palestinian state creating doubt among Palestinians and left-wing Israelis that a two-state solution continued to be viable.[84] In January 2012 the European Union Heads of Mission report on East Jerusalem found that Israel's continuing settlement activities and the fragile situation of the Palestinian population in East Jerusalem, as well in area C, was making a two-state solution less likely.' sungod
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Thursday attended a bilateral meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss elevating diplomatic relations as well as cooperation in culture and sports. https://www.nationthailand.com/news/world/40042045 Given that Hezbollah are Iranian backed, how much longer will Thailand keep cosying up to all the despot regimes around the world?
