Currently in CM city,

My british passport is valid for 60days tourist visa, I understand that there's a way to extend for 30days

But I want to make things simpler, what is the simplest way to re enter thailand for a new 60days stamp?

Thank you guys!

Chiang Khong would be closest place to border hop by a land crossing (if that's what you mean by "simplest").  Alternatively, fly out and back in and spend a couple of days in Laos, Malaysia, wherever.

Not sure about "straight back in" - maybe can do ..........but It has been reported that to avoid IO VE back to back issues one should stay some time eg 1 night over the border before re entering Thailand via VE.

Thankfully, where I cross to Laos, Chong Mek, there is no problem. ..😋

Just go to the IO and get an extension. Then after that if you want to stay longer then take the bus (cheapest) or rent a car and do a border run at Chiang Khong.

I personally can't say what the current status of the "straight back in" at Chiang Khong; however, a good friend did exactly that 6 months ago (he made the border hop without a re-entry stamp to deep-six his Non-OA visa status).

As for Chong Mek, hardly an easy or simple way for somebody in northern Thailand.

There is just one way to do that and so its neither the simplest or hardest .

Leave Thailand and then re enter Thailand is the way to re enter Thailand .

BTW , is this a trick question ?

just go to the IO and apply for an extension is the simplest easiest way on the initial 60 day stamp.

It just might be, we may be getting tricked here

That would just be a 30 day extension though and he wanted 60 days

You can get a visa on arrival (USD40) or you can use an e-visa (USD50) at that crossing.  There were some reports recently that at some crossings they were insisting on 1 or 2 nights in Laos before return, maybe someone will confirm if that applies here.

Never been but I believe that is correct, or rather "entertainment" if that's your thing.

In which case hopefully the 1 or 2 night rule doesn't apply, maybe somebody knows @Tod Daniels

Get to immigration quickly and pay for a 30 day extension, I heard you can also get a 60 but costs about 5k Bhat

I have done border hops from both Chiang Khong and Chiang Saen in the last 12 months. Both easy enough. CK is a bus over the Mekong, CS is a wobbly boat to a sketchy casino. Both same day trips. CK was Laos evisa but CS was voa. Advise checking the visa section on this forum first as plenty of reports of at least 1 night stay now required.

I'm jumping in on this thread. I will exit Thailand next week (Nong Khai to Vientiane, Loas). Is there any advance preparation I should make before entering Loas or is the process pretty simple?
