November 3, 20241 yr I heard that at some point tuk prices would change from 10 to 20 baht. I ask because a tuk tuk from pattaya to jom tien just asked for 20 baht. ( from near South pattaya Road to jomtien soi 14/1. ) I don't mind paying, I just wonder what the actual price should be.

I assume that you mean songtaew, not tuk-tuk. The price for the service is 10 baht anywhere. You don't even need to talk with the driver, just give him 10 baht and go. However, occasionally, some drivers ask 20 baht when the distance is long, as going from Jomtien to Terminal 21, or from Walking Street to Naklua.

I recently did baht bus from Jomtien soi 9 to Pattaya Terminal 21 and it was still 10 baht Edit: To the person who posted the confused emoji, what part of my post confuses you? November 4, 20241 yr Yes, Tuk Tuk fare always increases without prior notices. Especially when they spot any foreigners lacking: Cheaper alternatives. Local knowledge (distance to their destinations). Very basic Thai language skills... I got similar experience in Cambodia as well more than a decade ago. One Tuk Tuk driver offered me a ride(the distance was roughly 1km). His initial quote, $10, I ignored and started to walk. Then $5, I still wakled on. $3, still No. Finally $1, OK, agreed...

Except OP titled thread as "tuk tuk prices" as well as 1st post only mentioned tuk tuk and never mentioned baht bus. We are all just assuming that's what he meant 😉 Edited November 4, 20241 yr by Pattaya57

There are no tuk tuks in Pattaya and 10 baht would be an absolute steal if they were charging this.

Pattaya to Jomtien is 10 baht to Pattaya Tai, where one changes to a different vehicle and must pay an additional 10 baht when they arrive at their destination.

November 5, 20241 yr Please, do not use tuk-tuk. They are a major source of acoustic and exhaust smoke pollution in Bangkok. Drivers are very often scammers. especially in touristic areas. Refrein from using tuk-tuk and tell any friend visiting you in BKK to do the same: taxis are cheap and, with a bit of insistence and by carefully avoiding stationary taxis waiting in tourist's spots, they use the meter and are cheap too. 🙂 No issue with songthaew also called baht-bus (right in the picture).
