Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on *Saturday Night Live*, joining comedian Maya Rudolph, who has famously portrayed Harris on the show since 2019. In a playful jab at former President Donald Trump, Harris referenced an incident earlier that week in which Trump had difficulty opening the door of a garbage truck during a campaign stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The stunt was reportedly a response to remarks President Biden made that were interpreted as labeling some Trump supporters as “garbage,” a statement the White House later clarified was not Biden’s intention. Harris humorously remarked to Rudolph, “You can do something your opponent cannot do. You can open doors,” to which Rudolph replied, “Like to a garbage truck, right?”

 

The vice president’s detour to *SNL* added a unique element to her busy campaign schedule. Harris had been in Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier that Saturday and was scheduled to travel to Detroit. My "View" is that a clown who speaks glowingly of another man's junk, simulates fellatio on a microphone while ostensibly giving a closing campaign speech, champions fictitious serial killers and cannibals, worries about sharks circling a sinking boat, makes fun of disabled people, and now claims he never should have left the White House in 2020 when he was soundly fired by the American people, does nothing but make a fool of himself.

 

Harris, on the other hand, has comedy and acting chops, which she might be able to use 8 years from now after her second term wraps up.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr argued that NBC scheduled Harris’s SNL appearance to evade the Equal Time rule, which mandates balanced airtime for political candidates. With the election scheduled for Tuesday, President Donald Trump cannot get equal time.
