MINISFORUM UM790 Pro AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS Mini PC WiFi6E BT5.3 Window 11 Pro DDR5 16GB 512GB Desktop Gaming MINI PC. 17,400 baht.  I got one a few months back but with 64GB 1TB storage. these are heavily discounted on Aliexpress at the moment.  At the time  i researched mini pcs it was in the top tier of mini pc's.  I did find the extra RAM made a difference but depends if you need it as it bumps up the cost.

Hi friends,

I’d like to buy a used desktop computer in Chiang mai.  Gaming not required, charting financial markets is primary use. Nimman area currently

Thanks very much

You can find used desktop PCs on Lazada, I bought some recently for a reasonable amount (circa 1,100 baht). They normally comes without keyboard and screen, and might sometimes also need an OS-upgrade to Win10. You can also buy keys for Win10 and link to download the installation for about 200 baht on Lazada. Eventual compare prices and specifications with Shopee and other online shops, for best bargain.

If you don't have enough money to buy a cheap new computer (Lenovo etc...), you don't have the money to gamble on the stock market. Don't be a moron.

The Pantip plaza in Bangkok is now some other type of mall. However they do have many used computers for sale there. I bought one recently for my daughter to watch her videos. There is only one floor i think that is dedicated to computers now. Perhaps, if you are in Bkk you can check there again.

yea, Pantip's a bit of a weird place these days, you have to wonder why they did it. fortune town seems to be the place to go for IT stuff. i recommend Nic at Pro Corner for repairs and refurbished pcs, speaks good english and is reliable

😏 yeah for sure I tried this already.  Perhaps your expertise can help me?

I bought a 4-meter HDMI cable, bluetooth mouse & keyboard & the USB-C adapter/hub.

Works but too many interruptions in video, gotta keep hitting Play.Told the technician it might be the too long HDMI

cable but he disagreed.

Internet too slow is the only other snafu I can think of

Your thoughts/solutions/suggestions, pls

Most grateful, thanks

I use the following set up for watching soccer on my TV from the True app on my phone

Plug my Apple TV into my TV with a 1 meter HDMI cable (could be shorter depending on where the HDMI ports are on your TV)

Change my iPhone settings so that the display never locks (switch this back after you’ve finished to secure you phone and save battery when you are out and about), then plug my iPhone into its charger to keep the battery topped up. Finally use AirPlay on my phone so that the display is mirrored on my tv via the Apple TV

Any solution you have will be limited by your internet connection and the WiFi signal in your home.

If you have good internet but poor WiFi then you’ll need a laptop or pc that you can attach to your router via an Ethernet cable

If you have poor internet but a good mobile phone signal then you could consider getting an internet router that runs off a SIM card. You’d then need to get a SIM card with a data only plan

Get one like this. Pick your specs. Get a mouse and keyboard and use your TV as a monitor. Easily under 10k baht.

👍 already have a keyboard & mouse bluetooth.
will look into this right away.  Even if I have to end my trip soon I can take a 10k hit instead of a Dell at 60k new.  Donation to a school likely

Thanks gargamon

Thank you kindly!   Success!  Your comments on Internet & wifi did it bigtime, the rest of the info top-notch too.

Just watched a movie in peace.

For anyone else in similar situation

My iphone is with Verizon (US).  Regular bill with international calling is $120/mo.  Add another $100/mo for the international package when outside the US. Unlimited talk/text but only 250 min. talk

AIS shows as the local network

So 3-meter HDMI cable + USB-C + iphone 15 is the setup.  Airplay was also installed

problem?  Picture cutting off too much.  Exasperating.

So based on narkedfiver’s superb post I put my iphone on Airplane mode & connected to the apartment building wifi

Miraculous! 👍

I’m no geek so can’t claim to understand how the mighty Verizon was beaten by the building’s generic wifi

Happy that it works!!!

Pain brings reward.  ……..   called Verizon stateside and told them about the problems.  The technician said its a known issue along with no confirmation texts coming thru’

Serendipitous problem in that Verizon put me on their NEW program which costs $15/mo less but gives me unlimited minutes of Data/Texts & TALK/month!!!  👍

LOS continues to make me a happy fella

Thanks to all contributors.  You’re top-notch 😁
