Meanwhile crime that is indigenous to the country can carry on as normal by the biggest organisation of crime in the nation, while pretending that crime which is perpetrated by foreigners only affects Thai society.

 

As for transparency it's the same old rethortic trotted out every year and the corrupt core continues on regardless.

 

If they made it illegal for themselves to run businesses then it would be a start but of course there is absolutely zero chance of that happening.

How about starting with your own Police Force.

Put some cops on the streets. Put some cops at the intersections. Let them do something other than roadblocks.

"enhancing public safety" a lot more than your stated 15 points combined .... would consist "in targeting those (who so far this year alone) disrupted the lives of 725'096 Thai citizens and foreigners.

Thai police is far from perfect, but in general, I must say that 20 years ago it was worse, with corruption much more common. It was common for foreigners driving in Bangkok being stopped and being asked for money, even when having done nothing wrong.

I always drove wearing sunglasses, to try to hide that I was a farang until I was so close to the police officers that they couldn't safely stop me. And yet Thai police was already much better than the Indonesian Police, for example.

 

It's really a long, long time since I paid my last traffic related bribe. Maybe 10 years ago.

And a long time since I paid my very last bribe in Thailand: for smoking in Sukhumvit and not disposing of the butt properly. The fine was 2,000 THB but we amicably agreed on a compromise and set for half of it. This was maybe five years ago. In the meanwhile, I quit smoking.
