gargamon Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I've got a visitor coming in a few weeks that needs a room for a couple of weeks. He'll be using grab. Baht bus access would be a plus. Fridge and microwave are needed. Location bright side or maybe Jomtien would be ok. Not a cheap Charlie but not looking for high end. 1
georgegeorgia Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 So it for you in other words I thought with you being loud on this forum you knew everything! There is a hostel in Jomtien I believe 159 baht a night that should suit you 1

Heaven forbid I let him stay at my condo. Not enough room for him and any company he may acquire. I didn't see any microwave? Any idea if they have one? Thanks
gargamon Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 This is too much work. It's been a long time since I've stayed in a hotel. I'm just going to point him to booking.com and tell him to search for something with a kitchenette. Looks like Smyrna fits his needs though at 7 or 8k a week. 1

Thanks I've never stayed there, but my mate took a look at the rooms and was his first pick until his plans changed. The bar and kitchen are also really good with great service. If you ask for a microwave, they will probably find you one. On Buakhao, noise can be an issue if the room faces the street, especially if there's a live music venue nearby. Rooms facing the back are usually quieter. 1

Walking distance to Pattaya Tai Market, Buakhao Market and Friendship Supermarket. Good security. Visitors have to leave their ID and you can 'request' that they cannot retrieve it without your being there.

GypsyT Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 How much is "Cleaning"? How often they do it? Not on the price list. Otherwise not a bad deal but when they don't give FULL price it's not fair.

Another perhaps once a week and using the nearby laundromat in between. Why do we have so many whiners here, just looking for problems? I think if staying two weeks they should insist on a no charge cleaning once a week. That's reasonable. Monthly rental gets you once a week cleaning, so a two week rental should offer the same.

Not silly. The business model for yensabai appears to be to sell condos to investors then rent them out daily/weekly etc. They take a big chunk of the rent for mgmt and tend to fleece the tenants any way they can. Reminds me of those City Garden, City..., etc that I stayed in briefly 10 years ago. Cleaning extra, electric 10baht a unit, etc. I emailed them and inquired about the cleaning cost. They immediately responded saying they do no cleaning and it can be arranged at the desk if needed. They didn't give a price for cleaning. I responded asking again what the price is. Crickets. I'm telling my buddy to cancel his reservation. Thanks @GypsyT for noticing. 1
GypsyT Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 You are welcome. Yes, many are sneeky and get you. I always get everything in writing.

I actually stayed there a while back and didn't experience what you suggest. How do you propose that it will affect your friend on a daily rental, as there are no charges for electricity etc? The cleaning thing I suspect, may be due to owners who rent their apartment out privately and whose tenants then expect the staff to take care of their problems, instead of the owner. But I honestly don't understand why via email they wouldn't state the cost. Who is it that replied back to you?

Because they won't say up front what cleaning when you leave will cost remided me of the place I stayed before which was what I mentioned. The reference I gave to City... was what they were doing 10 years ago. 10+baht/unit for elec when gov't rate was under 4. Cleaning extra.

Since daily is more expensive than monthly, you would expect the same once a week at least. That a strange reply, since if they are renting by the day, they are a 'hotel'. Which leads me to believe that they don't think that you are their customer, but perhaps a private tenant. Personally I would call to confirm. A disappointing reply that will obviously affect their business.

Cleaning charge is for if you want your sheets changed, dishes washed etc You can leave the room as messy as you like. There is no extra charge and no way to charge you extra anyway.
