Thank you DrJack54,

i ask this for a friend, fortunately not my problem.

He came with 60 days and has now 2 weeks left and no bank account yet.

Well..

I want him to get out of the agent mill, once you start with them immigration does not want to see you without an agent....

He doesn't have the time to obtain a non O.

That requires 15+ days remaining on permission of stay plus 800k in bank account on day of application.

Opening a bank account on visa exempt difficult without use of agent.

Where in Thailand is he located.

Yes, he stays in BKK but came to Pattaya, more easy.

Next question: If he opens a bank account here can he get the account statement at any branch of BKK Bank?!

Would need it for EOS.

He knows about the minimum of 30 days/BKK Bank for opening an account.

That wont work, so maybe first extend 30 more days.

Don't ask why he didn't do that right away, it might be the happiness of getting out, which i fully understand 🙂

Jack, to fill up your queue of questions:

On top of this negligence for his own Visa he has a filipina girlfriend, and, being much under 50 years old - how to proceed?

Get an EDU Visa?

Send her back and forth, how long will that work?

Marry?!

Sorry, a lot of questions..

First he doesn't have enough time.

He could obtain an extension of stay (30 days) 1900b.

Being in Pattaya he could even do a border run for 60 day stamp.

I do my own extensions using my own money however your friend could check out an agent especially since he doesn't have a Thai bank account. The agent will open BBL (Bangkok Bank) account as specific branch.

Suggest visit Maneerat Soi 13/2 off Beach Rd.

They will also explain his options.

Edit: added issue with visa exempt to non O retirement at Jomitien immigration.

Previously they were requiring the 800k in bank for 2 months prior to application for non O.

This is a rogue requirement.

Check out agent if only for advice.

He now needs a 30 day extension.  Easy, no agent needed.

Then open a bank account, he will need to use an agent.  In Pattaya its possible.

Then dump 800k in it.

Then apply for the non-O more than 15 days before the 30 day extension expires.  He'll then get a 90 day stamp.

Towards the end of that 90 days get an annual extension.

Thanks, i told him that. He should have started much earlier...

Thinking best thing is to sort out his visa/extension situation and address the gf situation later.

Ensure that the funds come from overseas and the applicant gets a copy of the incoming funds transfer from the receiving Thai bank (to prove it came from overseas). Immigration will want to see this on first application for Non-O retirement if doing legitimately.

That is correct and if he uses eg WISE transfer he can obtain "credit advice" from local bank if transfer not coded correctly.

What's more of an issue is Jomitien specific requirement.

Here is my post from recent thread...

"The thing with Jomitien is that office requires 2 months seasoning for the 800k to apply for non O retirement.

That is a nonsense rule.

The rule for non O application is 800k on day of application.

Impossible for some.

However seems you can show seasoned funds."

To summarize, OP's friend is in Pattaya, has only 2 weeks left on a visa exempt and does not have a bank account yet.

He needs to hire an agent to open a bank account asap (costing about 4500 baht). He will then need to leave the country and come back on another visa exempt to meet time requirements as Jomtien requires the 800k in the bank for 2 months for application of a non-imm O (rest of country 1 day).

Or go back to Bangkok and get 30 day extension and then apply for bank account and non-imm O there.

OP, you have some good advice from various posts

No offense but your friend is not even posting himself.

Seems disorganized.

I suggest he do a border run.

Then use agent (one example I posted earlier) to obtain bank account along with transition to non O and subsequent 12 month extension.

Approx cost 25k + 4.5k bank account.

After which he can consider options.

Do the process himself ....which will involve start over which requires financials OR continue with agent 12.5k (annual extension) OR consider other options (if available) eg DTV
