I don't disparage the lives of garbagemen. Their lives are just as valuable as yours and mine. There are already far too many "experts" out there who think by virtue of who they know, where they studied, and who their family is that it gives them a right to dispose of the lives and careers of people of every social status below theirs.

Very Maoist cultural revolution of you.

So you agree with me, it may as well have been a random garbage man.

So next time you need surgery, you will be seeking out a Grab delivery driver to cut you open?

It's like the maga movement has a death wish for the country in exchange for what? Enjoying the persecution of trans people? Drinking liberal tears? What a perverted destructive corrupt authoritarian movement.

I hold you all ACCOUNTABLE.

What's really striking about the clown show parade of Trump's cabinet nominees is their lack of talent and experience in managing crises. Whether you're talking about a terrorist attack, a military attack, a banking crisis, a monetary crisis, a severe economic slowdown, a diplomatic crisis, or an extreme weather or natural disaster event, none of the ideologues appointed so far appear to have experience or skill sets in crisis management. The appointments so far appear to have made loyalty and fealty to Trump the sole hiring criteria, with almost no thought given to competency or experience. Trump's supporters may want to begin to ask themselves who is most likely to pay the price for this lack of competency and experience.

The problem is nobody in the military is going to take him seriously.

I think they will, 'cause he'll get rid of the wuss influence return the military to the kind of bad*ss force that real men respect and want to be part of. Now they can't get new recruits for obvious reasons.

The cool thing will be when she finds out who were the idiots responsible for that little political harassment and fires them. Hee.

My agenda is to oppose when any authoritarian demagogue scapegoats any minority group for political gain. Have you studied history?

Perhaps the ones yowling and screeching with their leftover Trump obsession could take the time to read Petes book? Maybe then you will understand why this 44 year old OUTSIDER combat vet got picked.

But that would entail reading a book, and we know how Lefties despise the written word, preferring social media and instagram

Cute comment.

Since you're a fan of the POTUS-elect, maybe you can share with us a photo of his library? I understand he's big on Proust.

Maybe you should have gone back and voted to defend your way of life!

A bit of posting on a random forum doesn't really cut it.

You do realize expats can vote from abroad, yeah?

The reason they cannot get recruits is they have an IQ cut off, and the dumbing down of the nation makes it difficult. There are also drug issues.

This talk of 'real men' is kind of silly. The fans of 47 I have seen tend toward obesity, lack of definition, constant whining, and having absolutely no game when it comes to women. That's why he captured the Incel demographic. Most would require a test to see if they even carry a Y chromosome before I would believe they are men.

Before you ask, yes, I served, albeit in a way that had me going out against bad guys, alone, in disguise, with fake docs, and a hope that my language skills would keep me off YouTube in a graphic video. The govt spent a lot of time and money teaching me how to stay alive, and yes, I was scared to death many times while working. If that makes me a girly man, so be it. If you haven't "been there, done that", then you have no clue.

I am learning now that Mr. Hegseth had a notorious career as a right wing college journalist at Princeton's The Tory. He distinguished himself for his extremist anti gay POV. Well that's his right and that was college but consider any Defense Secretary is the leader of the defense department -- the SECOND LARGEST employer in the entire world.

Among his underlings of course will be many LGBTQ people. That seems like an issue that he should be aggressively challenged about. Does he still view gay people as both abnormal and immoral? Does he care to apologize and clarify his current position? Imagine if his college career included publishing several RACIST tracts. Would he even be considered for this job if that was the case? Why the double standard? OK to hate gays, but not OK to hate racial minorities?  Really?

They are only racist in your eyes and there is no anti gay POV. Homosexuality isnt a movement, its a sexual perversion and mental illness that should be the subject of help and pity. Not wanting mentally ill troops is important for military efficiency

I wasn't talking about racism. I was talking about his anti-gay writings at The Tory of Princeton. You can think what you like about gay people, but if you're going to be the top leader of the second largest employer in the world and many people under you are gay people, you had better not be bigoted against your employees just for their identity.

They lowered standards because higher quality recruits are now less interested in enlisting.

Your impression of the fans is the usual nonsense. Hegseth served, talks quite a lot to members of the military, takes a special interest in it, and is an expert on current conditions, while you merely fantasize, demonize, and self-aggrandize at your keyboard.

Hegseth’s critics who sneer that he is unqualified because he is a Fox News host are the same people who insisted that Joe Biden was compos mentis, Harris was competent and her running mate Tim “Stolen Valor” Walz, who shirked combat and then lied about it, was some sort of military hero.

--Dems’ attacks on the intelligent, articulate, and patriotic Pete Hegseth show why they lost – a salute to Trump’s defense secretary pick

The problem with this logic is all the dems who wanted Biden to withdraw. The title of the article (I never read any NYP trash) suggests that all dems were pushing the line that Biden was not declining. This was clearly not the case.
