I log into someone else's tax account

I put in false tax returns and the Gov owes "me " a tax rebate and I give my (real my) bank account details and the Gov sends the rebate to me and the person whose account it is has a problem

Yes, you have already told me that you have gone crying to the Mods once, no need to tell me again , all you had to do was to clarify and state that you wasn't accusing me of lying .

Its not an offense to not know the answers they ask  , that isn't true (although I am not accusing you of lying , so no need to get the hanky out again)

Its a very convenient way to identify yourself , takes a few minutes.

If the questions are too difficult for you , there's a phone number that you can call

Now who is the liar. You said "they asked me when I took a UK phone contract out ". Then you said "

The question is a multiple choice question :

*When did you last sign a phone contract .*

Less than 1 year ago

1-2 years ago

3-5 years ago

5-8 years ago

Never "

Notice the difference. Not when you took out a UK phone contract which I took to mean the first time but in fact when was the LAST time that signed a phone contract. Didn't even specify a UK one and a multiple choice question at that. Now would you like to apologise to me for your accusation against me.

Good use of the English language. Now I will be accused of being the language police.

They asked some questions to confirm that its you .

I don't remember the exact wording of each question

I was showing that they know you have bank accounts and mobile phones and passports .

The exact wording of the question is irrelevant . I was paraphrasing the questions to give an example

And I wasn't calling you a liar. Now apart from DWP/HMRC knowing when I last signed a phone contact, which I find rather frightening that the Government hold details like that in a data base, I actually have three contracts. The land line, my mobile phone contract and my second mobile phone contract (actually for my son). So being pedantic which phone contract are they referring to. Bearing in mind I have no idea which of the three was the last one or which of the three they are referring to. Before anybody says why do I have a land line for the wifi in the house.

Do you maintain a UK address linked to your UK bank account if you don't mind me asking?

I did not until early this year.  In the past when moving to and fro between France and Thailand,  would change my registered address to correspond with where I was at the time.  I.e. changed it twice every twelve months.  Then the bank refused to allow me to have a Thai address.  This became a problem when they sent me a new credit card to France which I was unable to receive.  And they refused to send it to Thailand.  So I had it sent to a half-brother's address in London, and he sent it on to me.  I subsequently went on-line and cancelled that address, leaving only the French one, which I still have.  However when  earlier this year I needed another card, I re-instated the London address.  And did not subsequently delete it.  My brother and family have now moved, so I am going to have to change the address.  Incidentally, I made no secret when speaking to the bank of the fact that I was not residing in the U.K.

I would mention in passing that  recently the bank has made it virtually impossible to use my credit card on-line.  Which is when I have used it most.  For on-line purchases I now have to use my UK debit card.  When speaking to them they are unable to provide any reason for the repeated failure of on-line credit card transactions.

I hope this answers your question.
