WOW i was amazed as last year it was an all day affair...so not sure if today was just dumb luck or what but it was very efficient today...

thanks for the tips...glad i went at 1 pm instead of early am like i did last year.

So you think it might be dumb luck rather than believe the many of us that told you it was more efficient now and should take less than an hour (which it did) 😆

Geez as said thanks for the info....i did believe you which is why i went at 1...the dumb luck maybe was there were about 40 people in line ahead of me but when i got my number for the extension i was number 2 so my guess is i was lucky that the other 38 or so people were not there for basic 30 day extension or i would have not been number 2.....glad it's over and done

I was there couple of time and they did all numbers over an hour past closing time. I think they are good on that.

So it seems the best time to go for an extension or a certificate of residency is around 4pm to not have to wait in a queue to get a ticket, and you will still be finished by 5:30pm. Why does anyone bother doing the morning or early afternoon rush lol. It's way quicker turning up at the very end of the day.

OK...for anyone interested ...

went to jomtien immigration today a tuesday....got there at 12;50 stood in line with maybe 40 or so people ...moved quickly showed them packet of papers to include 30 day extension of stay, copy of passport and stamped page, tm30 rom condo, passport and one pic...got a number went inside and was #2 in line so i guess others in line were there for something else......five minutes later gal takes packet, takes 1900 thb, takes my pic and tells me to have a seat...at 1;20 they give me my passport all done with extension..less than 30 minutes arrival to out the door...

That's really amazing there were nobody there for 30 day extensions. Is this a common thing these days? Because there are still tons of people coming to do stuff at immigration and it's not that many oldies on retirement visas doing their extensions there yesterday arvo. Others must've all been doing TM30, 90 day reporting and certificate of residencies.

To go at 4pm is pretty bad advice imo. As immigration closes at 4:30 I'm pretty sure the info desk issuing the tickets closes around 3:30ish (would depend how busy as to exact time they finish). Even if the info desk is still open, going at 4pm has huge risk if everything doesn't work perfectly.

I really don't know.  I was shocked that with 40 or so people in front of me where you get a number that I then went to counter one which is where they told me to sit for extension and i was number two in line.  No idea how that could be unless all those other people were there for other things...IF i had been number 30 or so I suspect i would have sat there for several hours or told to come back tomorrow.  Happy day for me.

Agree. There is usually a batch of 20+ Russians doing 39 day extensions.

2 page post over simple question.

Seems consensus is to attend Jomitien any time after 9am and if after lunch break preferred then don't leave it till late.

I would attribute it to 2 things:

1) Now that most people get 60 days for visa exempt rather than 30, there's far less need for 30 day extensions for people on a simple holiday.
2) Now that immigration is becoming much more strict on serial border bouncers trying to live in Thailand on visa exempt stamps, there are less people looking for extensions trying to abuse that system.
