Where did I write It's only in Pattaya?

My point is just that when there is wide access to cheap sex,it is less likely that people feel the need to assault a women. Unless the guy is broke.

Sexual assault is about POWER, not sex.

You disgust me... Taking a story with very little details and making it into a heinous crime. Twisting the words for assault and harassment to suit your needs or beliefs when there is a very big difference especially in punishment to the perp.

You have no idea what happened in the elevator other than he touched her face and other places and not even sure those other places would constitute an assalt charge. Then you twist it into sexual assault.. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I see that the police have arrested the man for sexual assault. Are you planning to pop by the station and offer them your interpretation?  Explain it was a misunderstanding?

The unwanted contact and the video is clear as is the fact that she was terrified.

I'd say those are adequate details, thanks. His behavior is as heinous, as your attempts to dismiss it,

Also, I did not twist the words, I provided a definition for them.  My needs do not come into the equation.

I hope one day you are in an elevator and a woman enters and you happenstance touch her shoulder or even her back to guide her. And she files a sexual assault charge on you.

yeah, no.

I don't touch people I don't know. Nor can i see why I would need to guide someone in an elevator beyond a tap on the shoulder if they could not hear me and were in my way.

There are non-threatening ways to initiate contact, and your spurious example here has nothing to do with the actions of the man in the video

Actually, i can see what happened in the elevator, video is like that.

Again the unwanted contact is clear. Her fear is evident. If anything in the video he does appears like acceptable behavior to you, I think its best you stay in or find someone to keep you in line if you do venture out.

you just get creepier with every post, doncha?

I suspect this sex offender is not here as a tourist. There is a high likelihood he is here on business of some sort. If so, he may be confident he can use his connections to escape justice.

Either way, he will almost certainly reoffend given the nature and manner of his offence.

Pray tell how you have come to this conclusion? Unbeleivable some of the rubbish people write on here.

A little exaggerated for some light groping, she suffered no physical harm.

I think it's fairly easy for a man to say that, but when the shoe is on the other foot I think it's an entirely different thing. I think often times women in this situation feel quite helpless, especially if it's a guy that's considered me larger than her. There's never any excuse for this kind of behavior. If you want to grope a woman it's fairly easy to do that here, you just have to pay for it, and then it's consensual.

No free gropes! Especially when they are uninvited. A very sharp pencil to his genitals would have been quite effective.

Certainly more appropriate than burning him alive. My point was that yes, he frightened her and touched her inappropriately but he didn't physically harm her and she was able to leave the lift to seek help. There is always a lot of extreme self righteous judgement in such cases, faux shock horror which ought to be contested, not that it matters what we write at all.

Psychological harm is just as bad as physical harm...     the attacker didn't need to cause any physical damage for 'harm' to exist...   She was petrified, this could take her time to get over....   Imagine her fear next time she gets in a lift and another  male enters...

There is no 'extreme self righteous judgement' there is just 'simple judgement'...  Its not faux at all.

Its surprising that people such as yourself remain so ignorant to the realities of such issues - make no mistake, this was a sexual attack, it frightened the young girl.

IF this was your daughter - would to tell her to 'get over it - theres no physical harm' ????     (and don't answer that you don't have a daughter - that much is obvious due to your ignorance - but the point still remains).

Nobody goes through life without experiencing frightening situations, it is as it is, they are to be mastered, not exaggerated. She appeared self assured enough to demand that he be caught, as he has been and will go through due process and be punished. Yes I have a daughter and also stepdaughters, one of whom experienced an uncalled for slapping as a teenager and so suffered physical harm as well as fear while she was a member of my household (She was in my care since she was a small child and is now a mother herself). I handled it without drama and reported the matter to the police, they considered it a family matter and refused to do anything until I threatened them with a lawyer accusing them of dereliction of duty, he had to pay her 10,000 Baht compensation and the matter was settled. Although not on the best of terms they still have superficial contact.

Thats very interesting - that you when though such a process with your family, yet are so dismissive in giving of the impression that this is nothing serious when its someone else.

Obviously it's a serious criminal offence and he will be dealt with by the courts, but it doesn't deserve the death penalty or any other medieval punishment, which some posters think appropriate, nor will the lady, who seems quite resolute, suffer psychological harm. It may be the perpetrators first visit to Pattaya and he got the wrong idea about the availability of women here.

Of course - the penalties under the exiting law need to be followed.

In every thread there are the wannabes of the 'hangem-high brigade' who will demand the death penalties, corporal punishment... they demand that people are deported for a speeding office etc - so I get your point about over reactions and the response of faux-outrage etc...

There is every possibility that it takes time for this lady to 'ease' from this experience - PTSD takes on many forms...

- My son was involved in an incident with a 'wrong-un' at school - he was ok, then it resurface a month later and he had nightmares, its strange how the mind works.

- I took a hiding at Uni (a racial attack -  just walking down the road and was set up on by a bunch of Pakistani's - that stuck we me for a while and every time I faced a group of guys I was on high alert - it took about 6 months to be able to walk past a group without feeling fearful - meanwhile I was playing rugby every Wednesday afternoon and weekend and getting smashed about 'good n proper' (broken noses, split lips, black eyes etc) - but that didn't bother me - the attack did).

- This girl may well be living with the psychological consequences of this attack for a good few months or longer.

Whether its his first time here or not...   his behavior is wrong, very wrong.  Whatever his idea of the availability of women here, following a woman on her own, into a lift then trying to touch her when she's clearly showing signs of fear and avoidance... NO - he knew what he was doing is wrong and didn't care.

The guys actions were 100% wrong - there is no excuse at all that can be used to diminish these actions - the CCTV is so very clear that this woman was petrified and his physical advances were completely unwelcome so much so it is a 'sexual assault' - when understanding the law, this is fact.

I just wonder how many guys go to bars and pay to 'grope women' (consensually) on such a regular basis that they've deluded themselves that all women (or all Thai women) want this, some just don't know it yet...

I've even read recently on this forum, comments from the vapid toxic posters (the usual suspects) that the women in these bars even like this behavior....    they have no concept that the woman are just tolerating this behavior...   compartmentalising it and getting on with things as a 'job'...  they act and play along, as thats the job and the 'punter feels great' because he things he's some how 'made a connection' and his groping is enjoyed...

These grade A1 mongers never realise its 'only' money...   and they're only tolerated because they pay, truly delusional characters who then come onto this forum and post their experience completely ignorant of their ignorance.

I'm sure some believe... "she really likes me" !!! which is hilarious... they have no idea they are despised just slightly less than the stinking pig who came along before hand...  and so are tolerated as part of a great act !
