A horrifying accident in a mango orchard has left a 49-year-old woman severely injured after her legs were caught and mangled by a power shaft connected to a pesticide sprayer attached to a tractor.

At approximately 15:00 on November 19, police from Phanat Nikhom Police Station and rescue workers from Sawang Het Ban Thung Hiang responded to an emergency call at Moo 14, Nong Hiang Subdistrict, Phanat Nikhom District, Chonburi.

Upon arrival, rescuers found an orange Kubota tractor equipped with a pesticide sprayer. The sprayer was powered by a rotating steel shaft connected to the tractor. The woman, who was overseeing the pesticide operation, had her legs caught in the spinning shaft when her trousers became entangled. Her legs were severed, leaving her in critical condition.

Rescue workers quickly extricated the remains of her legs  from the shaft, stopped the bleeding, and dressed her wounds before rushing her to the nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

A worker at the scene, responsible for manually spraying pesticides, recounted the incident. He explained that the injured woman was operating the tractor and monitoring the sprayer attached to its rear. While he was busy spraying, he heard a loud noise and turned to see the woman entangled in the shaft. He immediately shut off the engine and alerted coworkers to contact the authorities.

The accident is believed to have occurred when the woman's trousers were caught by the spinning shaft while she was standing near the sprayer, causing her legs to be pulled in.

Authorities are investigating further and will proceed with appropriate legal actions.

Life is cheap for the manual workers. There is no safety training anywhere. It's not like she can rely on government help. Or disability benefits.

It's an extremely wealthy THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

Money does not trickle down to the needy.

May Buddha look after her better than her country did.

We all hope that she lives 🙏

Sad but avoidable....
