A few doctors I know, not nurses, have double that education debt and their wage is also only double.

I think you will find that doctors, (not sure about nurses), pay their debt back by working in govt hospitals for a few days a week. that is why you see so many do private practice and govt work. They don't actually pay any cash back.

A 59 year old Thai man accused a 23 year old nursing student of running a love scam after he gave her 370,000 baht in dowry but no wedding was held.

Thanakrit, the 59 year old owner of a tutoring institute, turned to non-profit organisation Saimai Survive after failing to get his money back from his 23 year old girlfriend, Fon. He reported the romance scam to Tungkhru Police Station but the case did not progress, leaving him desperate.

Thanakrit explained that he met Fon on a dating application in December of last year. Fon introduced herself as a junior nursing student. They communicated online until Fon confessed her love for him on Valentine’s Day this year.

They arranged a meeting in person and began a romantic relationship. After that, Fon visited him frequently at his home, and they travelled together across various provinces in Thailand, enjoying a happy relationship. He covered all expenses and even bought Fon a new mobile phone.

Thanakrit said he was asked to host the wedding after meeting Fon’s family in the Isaan province of Surin on April 29. Her family questioned him about whether the couple had engaged in sexual intercourse and Fon admitted they had.

Following conservative traditions, Fon’s family insisted that he host the wedding, and the ceremony was scheduled for July 14. The family requested a 500,000 baht dowry from Thanakrit, which he agreed to pay. Fon asked him to transfer 372,000 baht to her first, with the remaining 128,000 baht to be paid on their wedding day.

Sexy dress and online affair

Thanakrit agreed to make the advance payment but noticed that the account Fon instructed him to transfer the money to belonged to her nursing institute’s official bank account.

As the couple eagerly anticipated their forthcoming wedding, Fon moved in with Thanakrit at his residence in Bangkok.

Together, they busied themselves with preparations, even going so far as to rent a wedding dress. However, despite their efforts and aspirations, their plans never materialised.

Thanakrit said he became unimpressed with Fon’s habit of wearing revealing clothes and also caught her chatting with other men on social media. He decided to confront her family, which led to the cancellation of the wedding due to Fon’s anger.

Thanakrit demanded the return of his money but the woman refused. She suggested he contact the nursing institute directly if he wanted his money back. Thanakrit later learned that Fon tricked him into transferring the dowry to the institute to pay for her tuition fees.

Thanakrit contacted the institute in hopes of retrieving his money but was unsuccessful. The institute advised him to resolve the matter with his ex-girlfriend. He reached out to the police but received no progress, so he turned to Saimai Survive.

As of now, the accused nursing student has not come forward to clarify the matter.

He went to the police, and the police wouldn't do anything.

So instead he contacted an advocacy group that tries to help people with issues and brings media attention to them.  Saimai Survive is the group he turned to after the police, and that's most likely why you are seeing this article at all.

If marry a girl when you are 59 and she is 23, you and are a moron to think she loves you instead of your money.

You are the biggest moron if you actually think it's different when the girl is 40.

😁

There is a greater chance a 40 year old lady choose you for company and not only security and money, which an 23 year old definitely do.

There is so little most mature men can have in common with an 23 year old girl.

Ehh that is absolute nonsense, those that you meet in private hospitals are often from rich families and studied abroad. They do not have these issues to begin with.

Ehh, a 40 year old here is just as much of a child, that's my point, it does not really changes, you only will have a good excuse to be ripped if it was a 23 year old VS a 43 year old at age 50-60.

Any relationship in asia is at least partly about the money, to still deny that, is what i call real stupidity. Does that mean the girl not loves you? Possible. Does that mean she can love you? Possible too.

It is whatever you feel comfortable to tell yourselves to convince yourselves.

Nothing more, nothing else, it is your illusion of your truth that matters to you

You should try to get a relationship outside of the prostitution area, people are different there.

This man committed several heinous errors, first of all dowries are not paid long in advance they're paid just prior to the wedding, second of all if you stand a chance of a successful relationship here especially with somebody 36 years your junior you need to take a lot of time to get to know them. 2 to 5 years maybe, if it's good it's only going to get better, if there are problems are going to manifest themselves over time. I don't know why guys are so consistently impatient. I know a lot of times the women push the timeline and as men we need to push back.

No, that's not happening! We're waiting. I need to get to know you some more, you don't like that, no problem I'm very happy to walk away, it's that simple.

Desperados tend to lose their money, men with high self-esteem don't tend to fall into that trap.

One can make an argument that any relationship anywhere on the world is about the money, the vast majority of women on this planet want financial security, and there's nothing wrong with that. Here they're just a lot more open about it.
