Should be able to find someone local who can give you the skinny on whether she's romantically involved with anyone. If that hurdle is cleared, send an emissary to feel her out about her interest in you. That way, if there's no interest, you can pretend you don't know anything about it, and won't have to worry about any awkwardness in the future.

Best advice yet.  My girl's brother-in-law used her as a go between when he wanted to meet her older sister.  Seems like a common and sensible Thai solution.

Having been married to one for over 2 decades and know of 2 other farangs within 60 km of me also married to pharmacists its not impossible to meet or date them.

However me excluded they tend to mix with professionals their level or above.

There's also lot of unmarried pharmacists either career girls or left it too late to marry.

Suggest asking around if she's married or in a relationship. Adding line is a good idea. Don't expect to jump into bed the 1st date. You'll possibly find she'll bring a friend "chaperone" the first few dates.

Nothing wrong with that.  If you are serious about her a little patience goes a long way.

At 71 year old I honestly believe that some people are cut out to be married (men and women) and others are more than happy in having a girlfriend but not living together, then there others who just prefer their own company

I can roll with either or, but relationships, except present, never lasted very long.  No major regrets, as all fun, and mutually separated, luckily.

Didn't read all replies, but I wouldn't leave it as it'll get harder as time moves on... then you'll look like a right donkey when you awkwardly ask her out and she knocks you back. It should be done off the cuff with humour. The LINE thing seems to be the 'easiest' way to do it nowadays (here)... asking if they want to eat can be a bit full on. I also fancy my local pharmacist btw... Muslim, to boot!

Yeah, I'd go with this. Ignore what I said. 🙂

My pharmacist, whom I've known for years, and I like each other quite a bit, and we had a little moment last time I was in her shop. But she's quite married, and I have a long-term gf, so that's that.

A serious problem with Thai women.  They don't seem to have any issue with expressing desire for someone when they are already in a relationship, even when their partner is with them!  Quite bizarre.

Unless you are in the 30's and 40's then I would say she is just being polite. You go to a bar then you know you are getting lied to to boost your ego. I was 51 when I married my 37 year old wife - she was well educated and not a bar girl, I would not think a younger girl would be interested in an old man (if you are over 65 unless she is working in a bar. Happens , yes, but ask yourself what on earth she sees in you other than a good customer.

Good point! This reminds me of my younger brother always thinking the restaurant waitress was hitting on him because she smiled & went out of her way to be nice to him.

To the topic Break the ice,

I like you very much ! Do you have a boyfriend ! Would be a appropriate next step!

If she’s the owner or the head pharmacist she might not have much

time for dating either.

It's a trope where the Thai girl has her "brother" with her all the time, he ends up living with the foreigner and the Thai girl, then once the Thai girl has got everything she kicks the foreigner out (possibly kills him), keeps everything, then lives happily ever after with her "brother" (who was actually her husband all along).

I feel like asking her if she has a bf is on an equal level of awkwardness. Asking her LINE could be something like : 'I enjoy chatting with you, maybe we can add each other on Line'

Don’t worry if she has a boyfriend.
A lot of Thai girls cheat if they can get away with it and nearly all are happy to upgrade when a chance comes up.

She wants you. She is only human. They are wired to want us.they love it.
