The Thai gunman who murdered three people in the Isaan province of Nong Bua Lamphu surrendered to the police today, claiming exhaustion and hunger.

The 58 year old gunman, Samart, hid in the Na Klang district of Nong Bua Lamphu forest after he shot dead three victims in the Si Bun Rueng district yesterday, November 27. The three victims were Preecha Piamai, his daughter Wachinee Piamai, and Thavorn Waetthaisung.

Samart murdered Preecha and his daughter over a legal dispute related to 10,000 baht provided by the government. Thavorn was not involved in the financial dispute but previously clashed with Samart after witnessing him buying stolen electronic devices from criminals.

Samart initially contacted his wife and expressed his intention to murder another person named Lek before turning himself in. He revealed that he had a conflict with Lek but the details of the issue have not been reported.

Locals in the area witnessed Samart searching for food and drink. He was seen near a cornfield and later spotted collecting water at a monastery near the forest.

Police organised searches in small groups and brought in skilled officials to track down Samart.

Eventually, Samart contacted his wife, saying he wanted to surrender because he was very exhausted and hungry. He promised to drop all his weapons and urged the police to bring him food and drink.

Police agreed to the condition and asked him to leave the forest. Unfortunately, Samart was unable to walk out on his own due to a lack of energy and food. Officers arrested him from the forest at around 12.50pm.

The official legal punishment for Samart has not yet been disclosed.

The sad thing is, his life won't change much after murdering three people.

He will still have a floor bed space, he will have food every day and washing facilities, and a TV in the room, along with basic medical facilities.

He won't have to worry about electric bills or rent.

This is the problem when you have next to nothing, you have nothing to lose, so no hardship for many of them.

I wish members on here would stop saying this, it is an urban myth.

Prisoners getting reasonably decent, certainly edible, balanced meals in jail.

These can be topped up and improved upon by buying from the prison shops, food is also available in the yards using tickets from your prison card, at so much per day.

It used to be around 200 baht a day if memory serves.

Family members and visitors can put money into the prisoner's account as well so that they can buy essentials.

Thank you for continuing the battle against ignorance. This is not North Korea, China, or Russia. It is not the middle ages. But people like to hear themselves talk, and actually looking things up is too much work and spoils all the fun and all the drama. Cheers!

What a pathetic person, (not a man), Kills 3 people in a cowardly manner,... one day on the run and gives him self up out of hunger !!?

What is it with some Thais?   They commit the most heinous crimes and never think about the consequences.

What a shame, sad news, I was hoping to read that He had been shot in the head three times while attempting to evade capture. That would be a better result all round.
