Drink deep, my brothers, of the delicious tears of the deluded left!
I know how she feels and am sympathetic. But she, like me, must accept the fact that Trump won the election, showing that almost half of our fellow citizens have been conned by him or, worse yet, actually have the same values he has. It's a sad, sad time, and the next four years will undoubtedly be some of the most disruptive and destructive in our nation's history. -

Focus on Koh Samui, Thailand – 2024
While I consider that to be a sales propaganda PO* I have to disagree with you on the "sunset" thing. IMO it just means having dinner on the beach at sunset, not that one can see the sun setting. I gave up on Samui turn of the century when it went trendy, expensive and unfriendly. I went to Phangan instead and never regretted it. May it stay airport free for ever. While I gave it up for not liking it as much as Phangan, judging by the photo ( I'm pretty sure it's Lamai ) I'd literally hate it now. -

Consumer injured by glass in spaghetti at Thai pizza chain
Almost 50 years ago, I got a hamburger at a mom-and-pop store that had glass in the minced onions. I brought it back, they thanked me and threw out the onions. They had no idea how the glass got in the onions. To me it looked like pieces of a broken light bulb. -

Sukhumvit Nightlife: Who’s Keeping It Alive?
"My first trip to that area was in 2000. A different vibe back then, I think." My first trip as well was in 2000. I agree, it was a blast then. There was a song "Sim Salabim" being played everywhere, some Eurovision artist?, Tiggy? I remember that in the Nana plaza bars the dancers shoes were the most remarkable part of their costumes, because that was all they were wearing. Now that was entertainment! -

Old friends, new deals: Singapore PM makes visit to Thailand
GDP per Capita 2023 Singapore $84,734 vs Thailand $7,336. (AI) Singapore's GDP per capita is high due to a number of factors, including: - Low corruption: Singapore is a highly efficient country with low levels of corruption. - Pro-business environment: Singapore's low tax rates and pro-business environment attract FDI. - Manufacturing and exports: advanced manufacturing & export facilities. Thailand's GDP per capita is lower than Singapore's because Thailand is mainly an agricultural economy that relies on growing crops like rice -

Hospital blunder blamed for death of pregnant wife and unborn son
The problem of misdiagnosis happens in most, if not every, country. On the other hand, many public hospitals in Thailand are understaffed, and medical staff are under a lot of pressure. I generally go to my local government hospital. On my last visit to the hospital's general outpatients clinic, a staff member told me that there was going to be about 50 patients to be seen by one doctor over the 3-4 hours that the clinic was open. Ever 5 months I have an appointment to see a specialist at one of the specialist clinics. To avoid waiting for 5-6+ hours to see the doctor, I usually arrive at the hospital at about 1500, go to the clinic to get into the queue, go and have my blood tests, then back to the clinic and wait. Usually my queue number is around 160-180; in other words, the doctor has to see around 160-180 patients over about a 9 hour period.
