Big bike trade in??

Anyone ever managed to do a trade in with any big bike dealer here in Thailand ???  say trading a low mileage 2022 Z900  for a triumph  or Honda ???

seems they are only interested in selling new bikes   ????

You will get around 40% less than marked value.

 

At a used bike shop, you might get 65-70% of the marked value. 

 

Extras is not worth anything and best sold separately

Manufacturers in Thailand of any vehicle tend not to interested in 'trade-ins' as they are in many of our home countries, unless the specific manufacturer has its own line of approved second hand cars etc (such as BMW's Premium Selection)

 

Many Car and Motorcycle manufacturers of may 'offer a trade in' but really this is not the manufacturer but an industrious member of staff who'll do the leg work of selling the car for you and earning / keeping the differential proffits - as such you would automatically be taking a greater loss than you need to.

 

Thus: IMO - the best way to sell your bike is establish a realistic value and list it on FaceBook Market Place will will exposed it to as many people in Thailand as possible. 

 

You'll have to be a little patient as whenever selling anything (here or elsewhere) there seems to be a psychology shift and people become entitled or ask really dumb questions... 

... You get the very very very common question "Is this still available ?"...   its an auto reply and for some unknown idiots are just 'tapping that auto-reply' and then forget... its irritating getting so many time-wasters, but ultimately - Facebook Market Place is the best place to sell any of your items in Thailand (I've sold numerous cars, motorcycles, bicycles, pushchairs etc)

I traded in a 650cc to buy a 1,000cc and got a good deal in doing that. The 650 cc was less than around 1.5 years old and the dealer paid me 60% of the purchase price of a new bike. This was during Covid when all dealers had a hard time selling new bikes. For the 1,000 cc I received an additional discount of close to 30%.

I have had no luck with marketplace or Baht and sold , bike was on there for 3 months very realisticly priced ,210k   , no interest at all,, there are several Z900 on there at higher prices and older, higher miles  and less spec also no interest .

 

I dont mind losing a bit to get rid of it or Px it thats why I priced it low ,

 

i want a smaller lighter bike maybe a Triumph trident 660  or new  Enfield 650 Bear 

I still have my Ducati S4 here too its much lighter than the kawasaki  but I have some people interested in buying it for 140,000 baht so its probably going soon .

Im off to Uk on 12th as my Thai daughter is having a baby at Xmas in UK  and probably not back here for a few months   ,, so may have to shelf getting rid of the Kawasaki  until I get back   I do love it but its heavy for me now ,,,

in UK I have  Ducati Monster 750  and a Kawasaki 650
