Its quite obvious that some posters here can't get past their Trump hate and ignore the fate of the hostages who can benefit by having Trump help. The ex hostages and their families do not have that bias fortunately.

Their hate for Israel is as bad as their hate for Trump.

Families of American hostages captured by Hamas turn to Donald Trump for new hope

The families of US hostages captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023, remain in agony, waiting for any sign that their loved ones might finally come home to them.

Now, more than a year into the Israel-Hamas conflict and on the heels of last week’s US presidential election, some of those families are turning to one man with renewed hope: President-elect Donald Trump.

Hopefully you're correct, but sounds like wishful thinking - got the link?

I have been following the story over a number of weeks and reading media  reports , I don't have links to all the news reports that I have read

"Militants also hand over list of hostages they would release under a pact"

Hamas Concedes on Israeli Troops in Gaza, Raising Hopes for Hostage Deal

Hamas has yielded to two of Israel’s key demands for a cease-fire deal in Gaza, Arab mediators said, raising hopes of an agreement that could release some hostages within days despite the repeated collapse of previous negotiations.

The militant group told mediators for the first time that it would agree to a deal that would allow Israeli forces to remain in Gaza temporarily when the fighting stops. Hamas also handed over a list of hostages, including U.S. citizens, whom it would release under a cease-fire pact, something it hasn’t done since the first truce in the conflict last year.

Progress toward a deal comes after an Egyptian delegation visited Israel in late November, and after President-elect Donald Trump said on Truth Social earlier this month that there would be “hell to pay” in the Middle East if the hostages aren’t released before he assumes office in January.

Your quote make no mention of Trump making any moves to free the hostages, only their hope that he MAY do so!

He cannot do anything at the moment because he isn't yet POTUS , he sent the hostage takers a message  , which you can read above .

He is letting them know ................well , read the message yourself

Hamas and Hezbollah have stated that their intent is to rid the world of Jew's, what do you expect Israel to do?

Islam hates all infidels, you may think that your support makes you immune to that hate but remember this. Islam is not your friend.

My support?

I do not recall the Terrorist holders of being cooperative before Trump made his threats .

In what way were they already in the works ?

Previous to the Trump threats , Hamas always made extraordinary demands to release the hostages , those extraordinary demands now seem to have been dropped

I guess you see what you want to see. Read the posted article you linked again. Its there in print that you posted. A little research will show you more. Have they suddenly released the hostages since trumps threat?

The hostages haven't yet been released , but Hamas have taken steps to release them .

I expect that there are talks going on behind the scenes

Before you ask me any more questions, take the opportunity to actually read the topic. If you had done that then you'd have seen where Trump made a move.

Trump aides asked Qatar to recall ousted Hamas chiefs in bid to revive hostage talks

Sources tell ToI that after Biden requested terror leaders’ expulsion, president-elect’s team urged reversal of move, deeming Doha’s mediation critical to get a deal before Jan. 20

There is no guarantee whatsoever that trump can positively contribute to the release of hostages in Gaza prior to his confirmation. . IMO it is not constructive to have two US separate political parties attempting to negotiate, just muddies the waters. However, let's see what happens in the coming month. Maybe Netanyahu has a secret agreement with trump to agree a hostage release deal just after his inauguration.

I can't imagine any incoming president being so dishonest as to do that ... oh, ... wait ... errr ...

Fabulous,

A draft dodger as Commander in Chief.

What could go wrong.

You apparently didn't know that Biden was also a draft dodger, while pointing the finger at Trump.

Not that they were alone in that.

Does he not realise that he is not the President yet?

The actual president is out to lunch, so someone has to do something about international affairs, or would you prefer nothing was done for 2 months?

A statutory snide comment about Trump but never mind. At least a degree of leadership being shown. Interesting times ahead in the middle east...

Sadly, when it comes to the M E I fear that things will get worse under Trump.

It's the only point on which I disagree with Trump 100%.

There is still a full operating Administration and Diplomatic Corp that is working every day on issues world wide. Most of the diplomatic negotiation and discussions are handle by them so nothing is coming to a standstill by any means.

Hamas stated how many hostages they are holding and what their condition is and Hams also state they will find out where all the other hostages are and what their condition is . Hamas released that info just after Trump made his threat

That is the first step in resolving the issue and the hostages being freed
