Well I'm in agreement with you from a moral point of view, but you just have to ask yourself what is the breaking point for the average person?

How much abuse will people tolerate?

Will there be blowback from extreme corporate greed and generational gouging, that we saw during covid.

I think there will be, and I think the sympathy is going to be minimal.

I don't believe in sympathy at all. Just polite indifference.

My mates Mum, 80s, waited 3 months for gallbladder surgery. I dont see many Brits singing the praises of the NHS, and the dental work isnt an advertisement.

That's because it's been underfunded for over a decade, not because there's anything wrong with the principle of universal health care in which all chip in. Socialism indeed. Twaddle!

Where I live its universal and working even if it's under strain. I am getting. excellent service, and pay a monthly subscription dependent on my income.

Anyway, any 'socialism' is better than letting young women bleed to death in the car parks of world class hospitals like they do in the 'land of the free and home of the brave'.

Such a shame you all shame such a great anthem with your selfishness and hatred.

Speaking of which I see your pressy in waiting has announced his intention of destroying the only functioning bit there is in the US.

Its better than a pay or die system

Luigi is about to find out what tax payer provided health care  is like in prison. Hope his back will be okay on the thin plastic prison mat he spends the rest of his life sleeping on. I heard of you ask nicely with a doctors approval they may allow you two mats. His family is rich he will figure it out.

OK...so, to divert from the pissing contest:

For all that don't actually know the end details of the current healthcare system in the states, this is how it breaks down (IME)

My mom has healthcare insurance from medicare A&B as well as her private Non-Obamacare healthcare insurance. She pays around $500 USD per month for all.

I moved back here 2 yrs ago to take care of her. My only income upon arrival was my SS so I contacted the healthcare.gov site and was immediately bombarded with insurance companies all vying to "Give" me healthcare insurance, for free. 🤔 Here's a bill:

This was followed by this eye opening letter a few months later:

You can see by the bill that the insurance companies are collecting nearly $2000 "bounty" on every swinging dick they can sign-up, the younger the better but they take all comers w/o an exam, with preexisting conditions, nothing matters as long as they can classify you as "poor" and sign you up.

The part of the letter I found most interesting is the "tax" threat and the follow-up phone call explaning the provided coverage wasn't any better than Medicare Part A anyway. (you automatically get that free when you turn 65 for those unfamiliar with the real peculiarities of being an American. (meaning born here, not just watched it on TEEVEE):wai:

Ok, so what exactly are you trying to tell us?

Are you justifying the CEO of being assasinated into the back of his skull?

It also shows how the "Establishment" thinks and how sick and tired the other 96% are of corporate BS. The guy's salary was $10m a year and a large chunk of that came from the bonuses they (the CEOs and board members) paid themselves from the Bush/Obama bailout.

It was the classic leftist nutters running the government from behind the curtain that agreed to pay insurance companies a 300% increase in premiums to accept all who apply. The insurance companies then consolidated into conglomerates and only gave the bare minimum of coverage BUT offered to "Upgrade" you for a small additional fee. (see the bottom of the letter)

Campaigned on free "everything under the sun" while working on charging people who own their homes around 45% on your property that you already paid tax on (plus yrly to the state (Depending) because now it's worth more than you bought it for.

They took out the wrong guy.  McKinsey is also the consultant behind the Boeing tragedies and fiasco.

Speaking of McKinsey...

A consulting giant that helped fuel the United States’ deadly opioid epidemic agreed to pay a massive settlement to avoid criminal prosecution, according to court papers filed Friday.

McKinsey & Company, an international management consulting firm that advised Purdue Pharma to “turbocharge”  sales of Oxycontin during the height of the opioid crisis, entered into a deferred prosecution agreement with the Department of Justice (DOJ) that will require the firm to pay a $650 million settlement over five years.

Now, McKinsey is going to pay out a settlement with innocent shareholders' money to shelter their guilty employees from prosecution.  For leading to the deaths of thousands.

Yup.  He got the wrong guy...  And while I personally disagree with his methods, it's not hard to figure out why he's become something of a folk hero.

Good catch (if true, and I'm not doubting it is...) , but that doesn't negate the fact that they were balls deep in the Boeing tragedy, the opioid crisis and the health insurance debacle.

"If Allstate moved from "Good Hands" to "Boxing Gloves," as McKinsey described it, policyholders would either take a lowball offer from the good hands people or face the boxing gloves of extended litigation."

All resulting in thousands of deaths and millions of lives ruined.  And they're buying their way out of being held personally liable and risking prison, behind the corporate shield.   Proving once again that if you have a lot of money, good lawyers, and the right business structure, you can kill people and just pay your way out.  Yet another reason for public outrage...

And it's not just the partners.  They have thousands of employee consultants doling out the horrible, greed driven advice.  I've been subject to several McKinsey audits and "studies" at various employers and never felt clean when it was all said and done.

Luigi Mangione retains high-powered New York attorney as he faces second-degree murder charge

Updated 9:59 PM EST, Fri December 13, 2024

Karen Friedman Agnifilo will represent him in New York. Friedman Agnifilo previously worked as the chief assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office under Cyrus Vance Jr. for seven years and is a veteran with deep experience in New York City’s criminal justice system. She has worked in private practice since 2021.

“She’s got as much experience as any human being, especially in the state court,” one longtime New York prosecutor told CNN. “She knows every corridor, every judge, every clerk in the courthouse.” <SKIP>

A representative for Friedman Agnifilo declined to comment on who is paying his legal fees.

“Retains a high powered NY Attorney “

Strange that a leftist punk assasinated a big money executive CEO only to have daddy hire a big money attorney to defend him.

If he was so concerned about and hated people with money he should have let his daddy assign him a public defender.

Where is his white guilt as black thugs don’t get the high dollar attorneys.

More hypocritical leftist rhetoric.

Plus the charges should be 1st degree murder.  Clearly pre- meditated and planned.

In NY State 'premeditation' does not figure in the difference between 1st and 2nd degree murder.

Unaware of this as I’m not a NY resident.

Any other reason why he was charged with 2nd degree vs 1st degree?

Posted

First-degree murder
Involves special circumstances, such as:
Murder of a police officer, judge, fireman, or witness to a crime
Multiple murders
Torture or especially heinous murders
Murder for hire
The death occurring in the process of committing another felony

Second-degree murder
Any other premeditated murder, or a felony murder that does not involve special circumstances

So 1st and 2nd degree murders are both pre-meditated.

Good info.

Is possession of a ghost gun and an unregistered silencer a felony?  Not a pointed question...  I just don't know.  Especially in NYC.

Posted
He has been charged in Pennsylvania with carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to authorities and possessing "instruments of crime," according to a criminal complaint.

I read that some former law guy said that the fact that Mangione still had possession of the gun (for which there was an underwater search in NY Central Park) is that he was intending to use it in further crimes which could possibly lead to terrorism-type charges.

He will make a nice bitc- to some lucky bubba in prison.

Certainly his family will supply him with unlimited tubes of KY jelly.

UPDATE on charges:

When Mangione is extradited back to New York, the NYPD plans to charge him with premeditated first-degree murder, a charge usually reserved for the murder of an NYPD officer, but the district attorney's office has the final discretion on charges.

It will be a long drawn-out proceeding....He will be convicted with a light sentence for...diminished mental capacity ...

Very interesting.  I always "assumed" 1st degree meant planned as it does in most jurisdictions.  Shows how far assumptions can take one.  LOL

Supporters of suspected CEO killer Luigi Mangione establish defense fund
Mangione's (Pennsylvania) attorney said he might not accept the money that has been raised.

December 14, 2024, 8:30 PM  EST -- As New York City prosecutors work to bring murder charges against Luigi Mangione in the brazen killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, supporters of the suspect are donating tens of thousands of dollars for a defense fund established for him, leaving law enforcement officials worried Mangione is being turned into a martyr.

Several online defense funds have been created for Mangione by anonymous people, including one on the crowdfunding website GiveSendGo that as of Saturday morning had raised over $93,000. <SKIP>

Most recently, Marine veteran Daniel Penny was acquitted of criminally negligent homicide in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely, a homeless man who was acting erratically on a New York City subway, after supporters donated more than $3 million to his legal defense fund.

The alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare's CEO Brian Thompson was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee contacted police, and now all three fast-food restaurants in town are inundated with 1-star reviews.

No comment on my part, except this is crazy...  Or, more accurately, another symptom of crazy.

UnitedHealthcare CEO killing latest: Investigators spoke to Mangione's mother before arrest
Mangione’s mother had filed a missing persons report about her son on Nov. 18.

December 15, 2024, 2:05 AM

A task force comprised of FBI agents and NYPD detectives spoke to Luigi Mangione’s mother one day before he was arrested in Pennsylvania and named a suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The conversation followed a tip the FBI received from police in San Francisco, where Mangione’s mother had filed a missing persons report about her son on Nov. 18.

The tip from SFPD was based on physical appearance and Mangione’s mother, in her conversation with the Joint Violent Crimes Task Force last Sunday, indicated the person in the surveillance photos circulated by the NYPD could be her son, the sources said.
