Pattaya flower seller boosts sales in Santa suit

A flower garland seller in Pattaya has been spotted donning a Santa Claus outfit, capturing the curiosity and admiration of both tourists and locals.

 

At around 12.30pm yesterday, December 12, the festive figure was seen under the motorway overpass on Sukhumvit Road, engaging with drivers who paused at the traffic lights.

 

The flower vendor, 37 year old Kritsada Boonsopa, shared that he has taken up this unique approach to boosting his sales as the festive season draws near. With Christmas and new year on the horizon, he felt inspired to spread some joy and cheer to those passing by.

 

 

The decision to dress as Santa came after Kritsada noticed a dip in his sales. By adopting this eye-catching attire, he has successfully drawn more attention and sparked interest among road users, increasing his sales. He has been wearing the Santa suit for two days now and intends to continue this practice right up to the new year.

 

Kritsada also mentioned plans to modify his costume to align with other festivals in the future, showing his commitment to this creative selling strategy. Currently, he dedicates two days a week to selling garlands during his spare time. Kritsada encourages drivers to support his efforts, adding an extra layer of festive spirit to their journeys, reported Pattaya News.

 

“I just wanted to bring some festive cheer and make people smile while they’re stuck in traffic.”

Wondering, if the joy would be equal, if someone would sell ice cream in summer somewhere in Europe to the passing public dressed as a Buddhist monk. The Thai embassy in that country would go over the moon for sure!

It’s in good spirit with the Christmas season for the foreign visitors, expats and Thais. I’m sure it brings smiles to many people. Good for him. All of the stores and malls have Christmas trees and lights up. No reason he can’t dress as Santa.

Wow.  You really have to go over the river and through the woods (and up around the bend, to mix a couple of musical metaphors) to take religious offense at a guy wearing a Santa outfit to increase his business.

 

I'd rate that about as offensive as a Thai cutie wearing lederhosen to sell beer...

The guy is being creative to drum up business, and let's face it, Christians are well aware that Santa Claus is for kids and bears no resemblance to the meaning of Christmas.

 

It's a bit of harmless fun, take a chill pill.

An Imam in short robes, beard and turban can preach to a crowd in the streets  with impunity so just add a few Ice cream vans.
